Hi guys,

I have been looking to buy a GT in the U.S. which I would then ship to Dubai. I figured this would be my better option both for availability and cost.

I just came across a listing for a GT in Dubai which is actually about $40 000.00 cheaper then most equivalent cars here in the states. So I’m a little confused now. I haven’t been able to find any other GT’s in Dubai so I have nothing to compare it to plus I have not been able to get a hold of the seller for more details.

Hopefully one of you guys can help me to decided what my better option is, buy the car in the States or try and find one in Dubai?

Thanks for the help.

There was a post on this forum about a GT in Dubai that was crashed. Maybe that car was repaired and is now offered at 40K less.

Beware, there are MANY scams out there. if its too good to be true, it usually is! :frown

That is sort of what I was thinking could be the reason. I figure there most be something more to the story. The fact that I can’t get a hold of the guy doesn’t help. I also can’t find a single other GT on the web in Dubai yet I can find countess GT’s in the States.

I just want to make sure that the going rate for slightly used GT’s isn’t far less in Dubai for some reason then the States. It would be a shame to purchase one in the States and ship it to Dubai then find that out after.

I appreciate the help guys.

I see no reason why they should be cheaper anywhere that there are fewer of them. I would think the opposite would be true unless there is just less demand for them.

Could it be possible nobody in Dubai likes our car?:willy

No.

You can bet, if the car hasn't been wrecked, it's a scam.

I wager that the GT goes for a 20% premium in Dubai over the States.

No. I have had several calls from customers in Dubai. They pay big money to get these type of cars

You cant go anywhere in dubai without seeing a 430, murcielago or phantom...I have a friend who imported a heritage into dubai because of that. A GT is a very hard find so i doubt it will be at a discount to the US market. Plus a F430 in dubai sells for close to US prices so a GT should not be at a discount. Dubai pegs to the dollar but the currency has floated so you will get the benefit of a weak dollar to some extent as well.

I would be careful of anyone selling a GT in dubai without full documentation/history for the car. Many of the exotic cars that are in dubai whether ferrari, lambo, etc are ABUSED big time! You can just check out wreckedexotics.com, seems like they have new exotic totaled in dubai every month. If this is 40k below a US priced car...then its either a kit car, salvaged or something in between. at the same time its entirely possible because the seller has no idea what a GT is worth since the market is not very transparent and if thats the case buy it! and then sell it to me for a slight fee...

Maybe because of the exchange rate. Many Europeans are buying cars, realstate, etc. in the USA at a 30% discount because of the 1.52 Euro-Dollar.

There are quite a few FGT's and GTX's that have gone to UAE. As with any previously owned super car a PPI is a must. Best of luck!

yeah the price is lower in euro terms but europeans pay huge import taxes - 10 and 17% in the UK i think... So if you pay 175k here thats 230k at least to get it into europe. Having said that 230k USD is fewer euros (or pounds) then it used to be which is why so many GTs are being bought by foreigners. But either way...GTs abroad should never trade at a big discount to US GTs.

Thanks all

Okay everyone, thanks for the help, it’s always good to get input from others.

Your right about Dubai not having many GT’s, I think I have only seen a couple.

I’ll stick with one of the GT’s I already have lined up here in the States.
