My parents were recently on vacation in Sedona AZ and my father entered an intersection on yellow that may have turned red before completely through. He was driving a rental that had AZ plates. My mother reminded him that the intersection had cameras and the rental agent had him sign a paper that if tickets were issued the renter has to pay. Do you think he'll be getting a notice or does the light have to be red before entering?

Is there any proof you have to be served? I thought they just stuck it in the file and then you couldn't renew your registration until it was paid?

According to what I've been told: 1. they'd STILL have to serve any tkt issued to an out of stater...and the expense of doing that isn't worth it, so they just drop 'em, and, 2. The light has to be red (SUPPOSEDLY) for the cameras to go off. The red triggers the camera if sensors indicate there's a car entering the intersection.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup

I would THINK the personnel who process the photos would would automatically run the plate anyhow. IOW, I can't see how they'd have memorized the plates of every U/C LEO wagon around. And if they DID - they shudda known your rig izzunt wunna "theirs" anyway.

Now, the road rage thing I can see! :lol

The G.I.T.M. gang unit unmarked Tahoes here don't have 'G' prefix plates like other state police vehicles. They are normal issue plates to a ficticious name. Tough to research (for obvious reasons). I'm sure the camera queens just blew it off. Maybe this will make up for the 4,000 tickets I received as a kid :lol

There is no question that this whole program has always been about how to suck more money out of the public without appearing to have raised taxes. It is a travesty that the government can do this and collect and spend the money without controls. This program should be recognized as the illegal activity of the government that it is.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Nathan. Consider the low cost of parking a vehicle with no officer and issuing all the citations you can. It's all about the money. We should set up cameras in politician's offices and watch their every move. I bet we could nail them for billions! After all, they work for us.

There was an article in the paper yesterday in addition to the one in this thread on the front page of "The Arizona Republic" basically saying that... They are not going to come after people outside the state, because it would cost them more to send someone to serve that person than the ticket (unless that person has like 50 tickets). QUOTE]

I'm just happy that of my 7 cars located in Arizona, all 7 have OHIO plates!!!

Are any of your cars equipped with a monkey mask :lol I guess after 90 photo citations, DPS will try to find you.

VonTesmar is accused of wearing monkey and giraffe masks on Phoenix-area freeways to get out of more than 90 tickets issued to him through the state's photo-enforcement program.
