I had that same problem on my hood, and it buffed out perfectly.

Terry (She's got legs) also had the cracking phenomena, and I wouldn't have even looked at mine closely if he didn't point it out to me at the rally. Hi Tim - just got back from Cali late last week.

On my way back I popped into a Ford dealer in Macomb Michigan ( as recommended by the powers that be ) in order to start the process of getting them to sub to Saleen the replacement of the hood of my car. Saleen supposedly is not warranty authorized -says Ford - so one must go about it this way.
However,the other day I got a call from the service manager of that dealership who informed me that Ford said no go. He went on to say something about the warranty claim dollar amount of $ 8,000 being way too high and that Ford just wanted someone to paint it and not replace it - like a Ford dealer. Anyway given that he didn't seem too interested and in my opinion just blowing me off, I'm in the process of speaking with Saleen about their helpful dealer friend (pun ), my local dealer here and maybe Ford Canada to plan my next approach at getting this thing handled properly and by Saleen. Unless you've got anything to add, I'll keep you informed.

On another note, Alex and I would love to head down your way early some Saturday morning and have breakfast with you guys if you're around.

Terry, I'm sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with the hood/paint issue. I will see what I find out when I try to get mine fixed. We hope that you can come down to Ohio to see us soon. Tony from Toledo and his wife stopped by this week and had dinner with us. I am sure he would love to drive his GT over to meet up with us. My son gets married next weekend, and things start to settle down after that. Let me know when you're thinking about making a drive down. When you get a chance, perhaps you can send the picture you took of Austin and Mr. Shelby. Stay in touch!:cheers
 
Terry - jeez another unwarranted pot hole. I was hopeful, for you, that the way to get this done was resolved at the Rally. Sorry to hear it was not.

Tim, thanks for your concern. I believe that in the end I will get the hood replaced - just not sure whether Saleen will be doing it but I'm working on it.

It would be nice to see Tony and Pam on a visit down your way. We'll set it up sometime after the wedding.

Hey buddy,

Nice to hear from you and thanks for your concern. Ford is being a bit of a pain however I'm confident that they'll eventually come around. I have to keep reminding them that I didn't purchase a Focus.

On another note I'm sure that I'm no where near the mileage you have on your gal but I have been told that I may be the highest mileaged GT in Canada at 16,500. I put 7,000 of those miles on my Rally 2 round trip and could have kept driving. No other car has ever made me feel this way! Its really meant to be driven.

I believe the more you drive the GT, and leaving it parked for - oh let's say 1 or 2 days, is like a painful withdrawal. A trip to the corner store or a 7,000 road trip like yours is reason enough to drive the GT. More often is better!

Congrats on your being #1 in miles in the "Up North" Category. Keep on trucking my friend. As I understand it, there is a GT owner on Florida that has +- 55,000 on his car and a fella in S. California that has +- 45,000 on his. Mine at just around 44,000 is most likely #3.

I doubt that are too many GT's out there that are out of warranttee due to miles. Just these three that I know of.
