Ordered my GTX1 but I can't decide what color

I am normally very decisive. For some reason I can't decide on a color , stock or otherwise. I have a deposit in with Ganaddi for one of the GTX1 conversions, Mark is getting me the car but I can't seem to pull the trigger and the time draws near as I am in one of the first groups in June.

How the heck did you guys decide????

Red is cool but I plan on a F430 Red Spyder and would like to possibly try another color. Blue and White I like but since Gannddi is doing the work, why not just get a unique color? AAARRGGG? this is driving me to the nut house. :ack

What colors do you like in other brands of cars? I think Bentley makes some very nice colors that are pretty unique. Lambo - well, enough said.

Well I like Ferrari red but on Ferrari's and I am getting one. I love my seal grey Porsche Turbo. I think the Tungsten would be my choice if I did not have the Turbo, so it is not so much colors that I like as much as colors I really do not want to double up on ....

If you like the Gulf colors (heritage), you could do one of the other stripe configurations.

Both the Porsche 917s and Ford GT40s when in Gulf colors, had three designs. The difference was in the front hood. These different stripes showed the pits who was who at a glance, and at night. Ford is only using one(took first at least once.. One had the "smile" as pictured above in Centers post, except in powder blue & tangerine. The other had a stripe the same size as on the top & back running all the way to the nose and grill. The third had an arrow on the hood turing into a sharp point ending on the lower grill lip. Google "LeMans" and GT40 for pics.

Alain de Cadenet raced a GT40 in black with a deep yellow/orange arrow on the hood that was cool.

I've seen a white base with a red stripe on GT40s that's cool too. They might have had tiny thin pacing stripes along the main stripe.

Also, the GTX people are not the first to make convertables from Ford GTs.

The double LeMans winner was chassis number 1075. Chassis 1074 and 1076 were used in 1970 to make the movie
"LeMans", starring Mr Cool Steve McQueen. 1074 or 1076 had it's top cut off. They were both camera cars. So the GTX guys are 36 years after.

I agree with some of the other opinons. Since there will be an extensive amount of paint, why not do something different?

How about black with the blue stipes that are on the white cars? The blue is wonderful.

Or how about red with black stripes? Or black with red stripes.

Staying with the same "flavor" of the schemes but with a modification would be way cool.

There are various opinions on the stripes as we have discused on other threads, but my position is that the car screams anyway, so it may as well scream LOUD. :biggrin

One of the forum members wisely bought models of various colored GTs.

You could find a modeler to do a few mini custom colored models. If you don't paint.

If I was to have a GTX, I think I'd go yellow with a black stripe.....

I think the lighter colors will showcase the custom work more, and the darker colors will make the change more subtle.

If it were me, I like it in black, where it looks like a batmobile, whereas in white it reminds me of the Mach 5.

Wow. Choosing a custom color on a car, that would be a very tough decision. Great idea though, since you are having the work done, might as well make it even more unique.

Lamborghini offers a "Tangello" paint option, which is very nice. It is similar to the color shown - probably the same thing.

It's interesting how some car shapes look good in some colors but less good in others. It takes a truly great design to look good in all colors. :thumbsup
