oil puddle

My 06 GT is stored in a heated showroom and the car is started once a week during the winter months. It has 2900 miles and was due for its service to which I proceeded to load it into my trailer. After moving it I noticed a glass sized spot of oil. The dealer removed the pans in order to change the oil and the pans had a small amount of residual oil, nothing significant. They checked with the Ford Tech guys who inidicated there had been a few GT's with a main seal leak, of course after the oil change we can't see any leak. We have dyed the engine oil in order to determine if it is the engine or the transaxle when it leaks again. Has anyone had this problem and if so was it the engine or the transaxle? Is it possible that the car sat too long in a heated environment and the seal dried out but was okay as soon as the car was moved??

Thanks for any input

You didn't say exactly where the oil was on the belly pan ...and I suppose it could have migrated anyway. But, I'd suggest you check around your 1/2 shaft bolts to see if your leak is coming out of there. You car may be "coming down" with the famous 1/2 shaft bolt/seal pblm.

Breather leak?

MTDGT,

It could be another classic problem of trans fluid coming out of the breather. If this is the case, GtSaver has developed a breather baffle that fits between the breather and transaxle. Installation is simple.

If the breather you are referring to is above the transaxle, axle
it is not leaking or seaping from there. It is comming out of the bellhousing.
Thanks

Also check the PS pump, there have been several that have leaked, including mine. The fix was a replacement.
