That's some of the best wing suit flying I've seen to date. Pretty awesome. Shows how technology advances in all sports. Those suits are on about generation 10. Here's a pic of some the very first suits from 1998 (DaVinci's work excluded). I'm in full form in the blue suit. We did well to get 4:1, the guys in the video could almost do a go-around if the tower asked them to :thumbsup And Janine took the pic on her back also in a suit.
Can't 'climb' but they can vary the descent rate from vertical to max performance based on the suit, pilot weight and ability. In one scene it indeed looked like a climb, but it was just vertical rate change relative to the camera. It sure is gutsy. You have do do surveillance and planning before a jump like that - so there is surely a flight plan.
There was a Norway trip every year, but we would need to stand looking right down on the fiord - now these guys can exit out of site of the landing area - crazy - kinda like stand-off warfare with a cruise missle. Wish I was still out there. Getting lazy, old(er) and balls aren't that big.
