Just got my GT on Friday, I have worked every day since and have not went over my vehicle except for my pre-purchase inspection. I didn't even get to back it off the trailer, my wife did (she slid through the escape door of my trailer and the GT driver's window a lot easier than I could; I was more worried about clearance off the trailer ramp anyway). Couple of questions:
1. How do I determine my vehicles "number", not VIN but the production number? I have strictly dealt in classic muscle. I know were and how to find my Boss 429 KK number (simple-driver's door, KK1369) and my 67 GT 500 (1128, last 4 of the Shelby VIN plate). I noticed on the passenger seat plastic covering there was a paper with "1301" on it and thought this may be in referance to said number.
2.Where do you purchase wheel straps from to fit the wheel width of the GT rears?
3.Floor mats, who makes the best fitting?
Thanks,
Christian

Build numbers are not in order based on VIN. No one, to date, has successfully uncoded this process. Rmartin currently has a post concerning this. 427 Aggie has good stuff on basket straps. Roadworksauto.com for mats. 48 or 32 oz. Look at old posts, some pictures available.

Details on trailering please

How did you strap the car down during the transport?
Open or close trailer?
How far did you tow?
Did you tow over the Rocky's?
Did you tow with the e-brake engaged and in first gear?

Thanks

Sam

Do a search for LLoyd Mats. They're awesome - I got 1" thick type. They're luxurious and cover the aluminum portion of the floor pan in the footwell (which is certain to become damaged if left uncovered).

MAKE SURE YOU TOW WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND HAND BRAKE OFF, FORD RECOMMENDS BASKET STRAPS OVER THE ALL 4 WHEELS AND TIRES.
NEVER TOE WITH A CAR COVER ON... all important points.

Try photobucket.com. Upload your pics to an account there (free) and then cut and paste the url into your posting.

Christian,
Are all of the factory and dealer installed stickers still on your car? If so, photo them, and send me an email, and we can help you to figure out the information you have asked for. Send only the last digits of the VIN, for example 5Y4XXXXX, 6Y4XXXXX. I think I have been able to piece enough of the pieces together working independently and establishing relationships with the build team over the last two years.
