Ford Motor Co. re-engineered Lincoln Navigator SUV has gullwing doors and a luxury look and feel, just like Tesla Motors‘ (TSLA) Model X electric crossover, which features “Falcon Wing” doors.
The Navigator’s single gullwing door opens to both the front and rear seats, while Tesla’s Model X opens to the back only. The Navigator features ribbed seats and a push-button gear shift. Its 24-inch wheels further elevate drivers so they can see traffic above the cars ahead.
“It has the performance to go anywhere, more room than ever before, and the technology and the luxury to enjoy the ride and comfort,” said Lincoln brand President Kumar Galhotra at the New York Auto Show, according to the Detroit Free Press.
While the Navigator on display is a concept car, Galhotra said the 2017 production model will look a lot like it.
Pricing hasn’t been set for the new model, but the 2016 model sells for about $65,000. Tesla’s Model X has a base price of about $80,000.

I read elsewhere the Gullwing doors are concept only.

Imagine opening that Gullwing door in pouring rain. Your interior would be soaked!

The doors are 1000% concept only. Was done exclusively to show the interior. Im sure quietly was done for click bait too, which is of course working...

I like the truck, the tail lights look like the smaller CUV, Mxx what ever the heck its called. And both look like they have borrowed from the Porsche SUV taillights.

SHOWPIECE.

Not sure of the intended buyer demographic for Navigator, but unless the end user is parking it indoors in a warehouse, you'd be able to never get in - and out of it - in a standard garage (height and width) clearances. Also, the side doors would never pass FMVSS regs, as currently shown in a 'frameless' fashion. Concept is cool as an interior reveal.

kind of like the GT in the rain but a larger area open to the weather...
