My new little girl

What about Boulder?

I choose to forget about that place. Unfortunately living in Boulder County makes it problematic. Lyons folks talk about asking to be moved into Larimer County but Boulder would never let the tax base go. They have to have a few remaining folks to pay taxes so they can buy more farm and timber land for open space. Boulder County is now the County's largest land owner, exceeding the forest service.

What about Boulder?
A beautiful town full of people that were dropped on their heads as babies.

When I was on the Town Board of Lyons I was at a Colorado Municipal League meeting talking with some guy from a small western slope town (Can't remember which, but it was in the Telluride area). His comment was "We love Boulder. Somehow you managed to round up all the radical liberals and concentrate them in to one part of the state. We don't have to worry about them over here."

Too much politics, never mind.

Guess what made the web.... Things can go viral quick.

Wow, that's cool. Same pictures and video we have here but someone else put the words around it.

It's really too bad the GoPro doesn't have better sound.

An aside: I've seen "Ford"..."Ford GT"...and "Ford GT40" on the sill stripes of these cars. Even the origonals I've seen pics of don't seem to be the same.

Does anyone know what the origonal cars were SUPPOSED TO HAVE down there for both the street version and the race car?

Larry -

In the original pictures that I've seen (and that's lots of them), I've only seen "FORD" and "FORD GT" with and occasional "FORD G.T." but that could be my eyes looking at oblique pictures.

Update: I have found one with "FORD X1" also, and a number of pictures with sill stripes only. I have never seen an original picture from the '60s with "FORD GT40" or "GT40" on the sill stripes, and the John Wyer Gulf Oil sponsored cars of '68 & '69 had the sill stripes removed.

Picture 1: FORD, 1966 Le Mans, McLaren/Amon
Picture 2: FORD GT, 1965 Le Mans, Bondurant/Maglioli
Picture 3: FORD G.T., 1965 Sebring, Miles/McLaren
Picture 4: FORD X1, 1966 Riverside, McLaren
Picture 5: No Lettering, 1966 Sebring, Gurney/Grant

I don't think Safir can put Ford on their 40s hence GT40.

I'm sure you're correct, as they own the rights to "GT40" and can license it to whomever they wish.

Thanks, guys.

I think from your info/pics you can see where the dilemma came from, Ralphie.

I believe I've seen a photo somewhere of a "street" GT40 (complete with wire wheels) on an actual Ford sales brochure from "back in the day" that just had "Ford" placed on the sill stripes. 'I be thinkin' that pretty much ought to be the "gold standard" - for the street version anyway...ASSUMING I'M RECALLING THE PHOTO CORRECTLY...and you know how that goes...

^^^^^ And chromed pot metal Letters F O R D across the nose?

I'm sure that you are referring to the Ford GT40 Mark III - here's picture of a few:

I've seen that too, '12, but not on the same car...I don't think???

It was on a Ford brochure, Ralphie, not stand alone photos like those (but, yes, I HAVE seen OVX335D before). And I THINK the brochure was from 1966. So, I'd imagine only the MK I existed back then???

Edit: This obviously isn't the brochure/car I'm talking about...it's a '67 according to the accompanying blurb...but, the sill lettering is 'zackly the same as on the car I referred to. (You'll hafta scroll up/down the page to find it.) This is from the 2003 Barret/Jackson:

Pockets, Look closely at the third picture Ralphie just posted, you can see the letters across the nose. Spare parts from the Galaxy 500 assembly line (which I would love to have a 67' 7 litre).

The car on the left is the 1966 LeMans Ken Miles/Dennis Hulme GT40 MkII, P/1015 - the car that would have won if not for the photo-op staged 1-2-3 finish.

I hadn't spotted that, '12. But, the one I saw with the F-O-R-D lettering was blue.

(Notice too that car as the little virtical "bumpers" [nerf bars] up front as well.)

BINGO! THAT's the '40 with the F-O-R-D letters on the nose that I remember seeing.

Whats interesting is when you see that line up of cars Is that the Gt really sticks out! The most sexy looking of them all!

About 6" more snow today at the house. Sun's coming out and turning to slush but the season is done. Too much road grime now.

You're famous Tony :thumbsup

The GT comes with a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 producing a total output of 550hp. With its much wider body the car looks even more aggressive than the original car.
