that when he gets a chance to ride in it..........he falls asleep!! We went for about an hour long ride and 15 min into it, I look over and he is out cold!

Does this happen to anyone else with young kids?

I realized yesterday (only his 3rd time riding in the car) that these are great memories for him and me!

my 9 year old daughter does this about 75% of the time.

Both of our grandkids cork off almost immediately in ANY car if it's close to nap time or bed time. I think all little kids do depending on the time of day.

(My folks use to take me for car rides in the evening to get me to fall asleep when I was teething. But, the INSTANT the car came to a stop it was GAME ON! :lol)

Sorry I should have mentioned that he has NEVER fallen asleep in any car, anywhere, ever! He gave up naps a while ago. Its something about my car, assuming the "drone" or exhaust note.

I think it is the drone. My middle son, when he was about 3 years old we would take him out in our jet boat- 500hp with over the transit headers. Within 5 minutes of motoring, he was out. My wife and I thought it either soothed him to sleep, or he was so scared he passed out. We tend to favor the former of the two since he was always excited about going to the lake to go boating and never showed fear of the boat.

Cars and trains have soporific effects on most kids.... Sadly, the way I drive, they're screaming most of the time.

Drove to Ohio from NW IL/Chicago to pick up it my GT when I bought it a few years back. The whole gang came with in the family wagon; mom, both sons, daughter. My youngest had just turned 8, got first ride on the way home from Ohio. Smiling ear to ear, he lasted about 20 minutes and knocked off for a good snooze. When we stopped to switch passengers, he couldn't believe he slept most of his "turn" in the car.

:rofl:rofl:rofl :thumbsup

When he was a tot, age 3 to 8, every time I put Charley in my plane to fly him to Disneyland, he was asleep within minutes of taking off. I would wake him when I landed and he thought it only took us 2 minutes to get there!

He's 17 now and he STILL falls asleep whenever he flies with me.

OK,as long as he isn't the pilot .

I'll second Mr. Pockets' reply!! :lol

Hmmmm. I notice that they both usually stay awake in the GT, but the younger one, about the same age as your child, can also eventually fall asleep in the GT. Due to height, I'm not sure how much he actually sees out of his Recaro. I know the older child seems to have a fairly good view. I used to take him to school about once every two weeks, but the parking lot at his new school is an accident waiting to happen, so I only very rarely take him there and park really far away.

I notice that the younger one will fall asleep more quickly in the SUV, as he is sitting behind a seat back and probably does not have as much visibility (visual stimuli) as he would in the GT.

I've owned my GT for 3 years. Every time I take my older son (who is 20 now) he falls asleep. It's only really embarrassing when he's drooling.....
Now the two girls, and the younger son NO WAY would they ever fall asleep.

First time I took my wife for a road trip in the GT, she fell so soundly asleep, I could occassionally hear her snore over the Ford Racing exhaust. She was so surprised how quickly and deeply she fell asleep, she asked me why I thought she did it. I told her I thought that it was the drone that just lulled her to sleep, her next question was why didn't it do the same to me, and I explained that to me it was like a great music sound track that I liked to tap the accelerator just to turn up the volume!!!

My wife and I have a running joke that she's like a baby. Every time we go cruising she gets very sleepy in the passenger seat. I've never taken her on the racetrack with me. I think it would be a different story.

The same thing happens to me in the GT. After about 15 minutes of my driving me around, I'm fast asleep.

Here are my 7 year old and 4 year old sleeping in the back of my 67 GT500, out like babies. Not sure if it was the motion or exhaust!!!!

Shadowboy always wants to go for a ride; a long one and yet within minutes he is out cold. Once awake he always wants to know how long we drove for and then uses that as the basis to define the length of the next one.

It is nice having him with me; even if asleep.

His first ride in the GT.....on the way to Cars and Coffee.....out cold in 5 minutes

Wanted to bump this thread. My son, now 5 who most of the local GT owners have met, ONLY gets excited when the speedo climbs into triple digits. What kind of monster have I created?
