Monitoring boost using the TMAP?

Has anyone tried to monitor the boost pressure using the existing TMAP sensor on the GT?

This sensor has a temperature output on pin 1 and pressure on pin 4. It seems that one could Y out pin 4 and use it to monitor boost pressure even if you has a Mafia scaling the MAF.

I don't know why Ford decided to derive the boost pressure from the MAF instead of using the existing MAP sensor. Also if one tunes and remaps the MAF table why does the ECM still get the boost wrong, the algorithm should still work even with the Mafia.

BlackICE,

When I get time, I will look into this!

The part number for the TMAP is 2R3A-9F479-AA

Does anyone know the specs on this part, e.i what is the range of pressures (BAR) that it can monitor?

That's the same part number as used on the 03 Cobra, which is a 2 bar sensor. (So you can monitor boost pressures up to 1 bar).

Thanks for the 2 bar information.

Now does anyone know if the ecu can be reflashed to handle a 3 bar sensor and what would the part number be for a 3 bar?

Does anyone know what the T-Map is used for in the GT?
