As a a matter of principle, I don't watch much college athletics, but yesterday I threw on the NCAA tourney because Michigan was playing. I kept it on once the Louisville vs. Duke game started, and oh boy was that a mistake. It's doubtful there has ever been a more gruesome injury that happened in front of more eyeballs in such a prime spot. At first I thought two Louisville players must have knocked heads because they were face down in the key. It was only after they showed the replay that the magnitude of the horror became clear. As the play by play guys were wondering aloud if he had dislocated something, the replay showed Kevin Ware's leg snap in half mid-shin as he jumped to block a shot at the three point line, and to top it off he was laying on his back on the raised platform right in front of the bench. There was a lot of people about to throw up from the sight and half the players were in tears from the shock. After the game Pitino was pretty nonplussed as he stated that 6 inches of bone had come out through the skin. :ack Don't look up the name unless you want Google to put the image in front of you.
Hope the kid comes back better than ever. What a freak accident. He's probably made that jump 100,000 times.
