I don't know about their AS3, but their recent 'SS' model (replaces the PS2) for street (summer) is a fantastic tire!

The PS2's are my favorite tire of all time. The best track / street tire that I have ever owned. If the SS model is better, than WOW!

It's hard to find a 19" Rear tire to match the OD of our Goodyear"s

When our GT was developed, Ford decided to go with a larger (higher) aspect ratio (sidewall height). As I understand/recall the story, the higher aspect ratio was a conscious decision from an aesthetic perspective. And yes, there are precious few options (width/sidewall height) out there that yield the same overall diameter of the stock set up..

Here's Scott's view point on the Goodyear's used on our GT's:

Thanks for the link - really good material. I re-read it but, Scott doesn't specifically say why the Team ended up with the aspect ratio that they did. Even back then (12 years ago) there were options to go to a shorter sidewall that is in use on super cars today. That's where I thought that I had heard that aesthetic considerations (taller sidewall) entered as an objective. When Mark or Scott comes out of hibernation, perhaps they could shed some light on how we got to 40/45 series sidewalls.
