I just got back from an LA – Key West – LA trip and the odometer ticked through the 20,000 mark.

Asides from the luggage issue the Ford is simply an awesome GT car.

I’ve stopped in some wild and woolly places to eat/fill her up and I have yet to have a bad experience – people just love it.

After 20,000 miles in the car It is still thrills me every time I approach her with keys in hand. Best automotive purchase I ever made.

Btw: My 7,000 mile field test on the Performance upgrade is in – it works!

20,000 miles :eek

I should get out more! :biggrin

It's the sort of mileage Empty's grandchildren would dream about... :lol

biffom, glad to hear from you. Been a while. So the 20k miles covers:
1.) the trip to Detroit and return via Canada two years ago with your Dad and...
2.) a LA to Key West run!

Did you take your Dad with you this time also?

What performance upgrade have you added? Whipple? TT? :eek :thumbsup

Take care!

Mike

Smiles per mile

Biffom. great to read your post.

LA LA Land West to LA LA Land East. And Back. Did your Pa go too?

You already know I did that cruise last January. It eventually become A 10,000 mile road trip by the time I got back to Seattle.

Where you going next? Vintage Le Mans?

Keep us posted on your travels.

My father didn't make the trip this time. My mother visited us down in Key West and drove the GT. Not very far - I'm glad as I would have had no bloody clutch left!

The only mods I've done are to remove the woofer, install the Ford race exhaust - (these were both immediate and in my book essential), install the Ford Racing pulley swap kit and the trans axle cooling kit.

Oh and Analog Designer's short throw knob:)

Will do ....

post some pics of your journey when you can please..

Plus I just found all my pics from the first rally (there are bazillions) - If anyone is interested I'll put those up online when I next get back to California.

Jeff,

I will be taking the gt over to europe at some point... But at the moment I'm bouncing around between LA, Key West and Ecuador.

I feel I should do the eastern seaboard of the US just to complete the "lap".

How many miles have you got on her now?

Cheers,

Carl.

Carl - been slowing down this last year. Only to 45k. But then I put 35k on other of the fleet vehicles.

Still love the bugs in the grill photo from Rally I.

Best I could do from memory.

Take care my friend,

If you're in the 'hood ....

Planning road trip -- where to park at night?

A little nervous to park it in a hotel parking lot. Ford dealership, perhaps? What experiences with parking it at night?

Park it in the porte cochere. Tip the valet, bell, security - whoever's on graves to look after it for you.
