Never been. Want to take my 6 year old next year. Any tips on where to sit, how to do it right, or just any advice in general?

Thank you!!

Unless you want him to grow up fast, keep him out of the infield.lol Lots and Lots of partying and carrying on.

Good luck!

It's a very cool event....he will love it. I suppose sitting somewhere near Turn 1 is the best, or maybe even in the infield stands on pit row if you really like that action. Might want to consider the stands that have cover from the sun for the lil guy. Get there early the day of the race....parking can be difficult......

Driving to the track ANY day near the race is a huge cluster. MIles of backed-up traffice. Hotel prices are astronomical. Make sure sure you take either ear plugs or ear protection of some sort cause it is loud. If you have an RV, that would be the way to go and park on the track grounds.

For sure the ear plugs.... I would have a child wear the small foam insert type AND the typical over the head muffs. Take a cab and book a hotel outside the rip-off circle.....remember to record the sounds on your phone for a ring tone; it will never get old!
Lots of spectator-friendly cruising outside of the track the night before but it can get a little PG-13 as the night progresses .Always good entertainment in the infield (rock bands) but head home a little early from there as well with your little man.

My kids grew up in NASCAR garages because dad represented drivers. Ditto on the earplugs/ headsets for sure.

Also, make sure you have a spot they know to go to God forbid you get separated which is easier than you think. Also point out the security folks to them.

I have many fond memories at many tracks.

Anyone going this year? I'm looking forward to it!

MNJason, be at the JW MARRIOT 8am on sunday.......If you would like a private police escort......follow the red GT......Bring a donation for the local costable and you will be inside the track in 5 minutes....pm my friend. GTJOEY1314

IMHO the best viewing seats would be upper deck near start finish line across from pits. Take a radio with an ear plug so you can follow on local station. All but impossible to hear the track PA system. Too much backround noise.
