His Vin is 1FAFP0S65Y401479. It was built on 7/25/05. I am getting him the Ford GT owners plaque from Ford. They ask for his build number, but I just have his Vin. Also can I still order all the goodies from Ford like I did with my GT. The certificate, ect. from Ford? Thanks for any help!

No it's not the last four of the VIN, but Ford should not need that to give you an owners pack. They didn't need it from me... ask to speak with someone else at Ford. It sounds like you were talking to someone who didn't want to work that day.

Neither have I - please supply information regarding such an item - especially if from Ford.

Do a search for the owners certificate package from SVT. Costs $100 and you get evrything including the build rotation number.

It's on the Ford site.. You can pick the color of your GT with your Vin and Build number. It's a cool picture with your cars info and back round of the 60's GT40's race cars lined up. 30 percent off now.

Ha!!

I've never heard of an "Owners Plaque".

Mark & Ralphie,

I thought you were dialed in to everything Ford GT. Here's what my Owners Plaque looks like. The build # is not the last 4 digits of the VIN, it's the build sequence # of your car out of the 4038 built. My 2006 yellow GT with '06 serial #...0589 was #2573 out of the 4038 total built during the two year run. This build number was on one of the two yellow stickers on the top of the windshield when your car was delivered to the dealership. Serial numbers are assigned before a car is actually built so its not uncommon for a car with a lower serial number to have a higher build number than another car with a higher serial number. The picture is pretty cool, can be ordered in any GT color, and comes double matted in a nice frame. Cheers.

Chip

Anyone know how to get the build number? I got the certificate package but it indicates my car is #268 of 2011 built in 2006. Does anyone know the final number for 2005 and could I add that to 268 to get the number than goes on the plaque?

You probably have, somewhere in your paperwork, those two stickers from your windshield. The big one that was on top contains the last 4 digits of your VIN. The little one that was below the big sticker has your build # on it. A lot of owners stuck those inside the flap of their owners manual or stuck them on a sheet of paper and kept them with the cars paperwork.

As my car was sent 1st to Alaska before winding up in San Diego, none of the those stickers were on it by the time I picked it up. However, I'm assuming my build number in 2005 is 1797, as shown on my owner's certificate. It appears that the total number of 2005 cars built was 2022.

As there were 2,022 cars built in 2005, and 2,011 in 2006, that is a total of 4,033 cars built in those two years. As it is well known that 4,038 cars were built, that leaves 5 production cars built in 2004. Does this makes sense?

Thus, my car should have been the 1,802nd (1,797 + 5) production car built of 4038 - - - ???

I've got the "Owners Package" but I didn't know about the art piece with the plaque... very cool. Is it available online or just via a telephone order?

Ford GTs with 2004 VINs

I have VIN numbers for pre-production GTs with 2004 Model Year designations up to 4-0018, so I believe that there were probably at least 18 cars built with 2004 VINs. None of those cars were street legal or sold as cars that could be licensed or titled for street use. They are NOT counted in the production total of 4,038 cars - that number is street-legal production cars ONLY. These 2004 MY cars are factory prototypes that do not neccesarily meet Federal safety or emissions standards. Some were sold to race teams to make into race cars, some have been sold to collectors.

I researched the variance between the 4038 and 4033 production numbers some time back. There were 2,027 cars built for the 2005 Model Year, not 2,022. IIRC, I believe I found five Company cars that were production-level pool cars sent to Europe, that I believe the SVT figures do not count. My best sources say 4,038 production GTs over the two Model Years.

With regard to the "build number" - it is the same as the "Rotation number" on the second windshield sticker under the one that includes the four-digit VIN. I have VIN numbers for all 4,038 GTs produced - I have Rotation numbers for only 150 - so I don't have enough to extrapolate Rotation numbers for other cars. I checked other cars built the same day, and a couple days before Ralphies, but I do not have any Rotation numbers for any of those cars. The closest car I have to Ralphies is VIN # 5-1849, built 9/14/2005, with ROT#1794 - so, I think the SVT "build number" for Ralphie's GT, "1797" probably IS the same as his Rotation number.

If more owners were to submit their info, VIN numbers and Rotation numbers to me, we could probably learn a lot more about the sequence of the builds.

regards,

Jeff
