how are our brakes "powered"?

Just thinking. Since the brakes in a normally aspirated car are typically assisted by an engine-vacuum energized diaphram, how are the brakes powered with our boosted motors? Is this typical with other positive pressure motor applications?

Vacuum is stored in the brake booster with a check valve.

Thanks. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
