Take solace in the fact you're not the only one in that situation!

From a former lurker and current owner you couldn't find a better place to get info on your GT purchase. There are a lot of teachers here. Research (er, search) can be your friend. I found (and still find) that almost every question I had was already asked.

I started mine up today to warm it up and it was almost empty. I had to take it out to fill it up. Too much gravel ("Grit", according to Top Gear) on the roads to really go for a long ride. Sigh :(

P.S. It sounds like you bought one. We need pictures

Hibernation is an excuse to turn some wrenches! Coolant leak fixed this evening and lots of other tweaks awaiting attention. Did you get all your issues figured out Tony?

My primary issue is the lack of global warming. Will someone please bring a rail train our way.

The secondary thing is likely a supercharger snout seal. It'll have to wait until after Christmas. I might do a preemptive repair or I might just leave it and wait until spring or summer to see if it continues (which it probably will).

Are those real knockoffs? I sent my lead mallet, spinner pliers and wire along with the Cobra. You could have had them for a 12-pack of Bud Lite :)

P.S. American Hammer has the best lead hammer and if you search for it on the Club Cobra site you can get one for a song and a dance (plus shipping, which is about all you pay for :) )

They are if he's kept the std setup that comes on a Superformance '40. :wink :thumbsup

Yuppers, those are real knock-offs and those are also real megaphones. Say hello to my little friends! Getting ready to mount rear spoiler and front canards. Gonna be tits.

I remember trying to buy a knock-off setup for my GT from Heffner. They never replied to repeated inquiries. Was a pretty sweet setup with some nice black HRE wheels.

Are you mounting the canards & 'spoiler with an eye to running 'the mile', or just for looks?

For looks! I've had the car north of 150mph several times and it's solid and true. Unfortunately, my Avons are V rated which would limit me to 149mph in any sanctioned event. That would be rather boring to cruise control the back half of a mile. I am trying to get lined up to do one of the open road races next spring. Reaching those folks has proved challenging at best. Sand Hill is sold out for 2012 and I have not got any replies from Big Bend or Silver State. What attracts me the most is the vintage/gt40 meet that happens at Road America. I don't know much about it yet but running around a track with many other 40s seems like a lot of fun. What would be a highlight for me would be to ship my car over for the LeMans classic. Can you imagine how much fun that would be!

You'd not only hafta change the tires, but you'd have to add a roll cage for the mile, too - for the Texas Mile anyway. (When I was planning on having an 'upgraded' '40 built, I called the folks at the Texas mile to find out the speed at which cage would be required.)

'Hard for me to imagine since, as you know, my cars have never been allowed to leave the garage... :biggrin

I have a 4 point bar setup? And no cage or bar GTs are running 220mph+?

But the FGT's factory chassis design/passenger compartment is considered more than sufficient all on its own.

Cold weather has a way of wrecking havoc on many things, including the human brain as apparent here.:frown
