This was spotted at an Aston Martin Racing Team event in Georgia, before the Petit LeMans race: The picture was posted on ferrarichat.

A little overboard on the stickers IMHO, but the painted standard wheels are exactly what I have in mind for my Heritage. Does anyone know whose car it is? I'd love to know who did the wheels.

Here's the original:

Heritage

The car is owned by the owner of the local Ferrari dealership here in Alpharetta, they also sell the Aston Martin. Kirby Vieira has had a number of conversations with them on the car and the changes they made. He would be the best source on info.

I've done the stickers...don't like them they get way way way too busy on the car...but I want to know how he made the knockoffs

You can see the standard cover for the lugs in orange under them..I wonder if they are aluminum or just some type of plastic.

Matt

Actually if you study the photos of #6 in the 1969 LeMans, the stickers are pretty accurate. Obviously some people may not like the original stickers on the modern version of the car I guess.

The knockoffs have the appearance of being real except to GT owners and knowledgeable wheel people. They are accomplished with threaded aluminum sleeves and Halibrand spinners. If drilled and wired to the wheels they look even more authentic. Gt's other than Heritage would accomplish the same original "look" with dark (black) painted wheels.

Also note the addition of the fake knockoffs.

Whose wheels are those?

Kirby-

Are the rim edges polished and clear coated or were they left stock? I can't get over how much I like those wheels.

It is probably just me. I am after the look of the GTs in the photo on page 197 of Allen & Jones book titled "The Ford That Beat Ferrari". Sorry no scanner, but my guess is many have the book.

Those are the stock wheels.

They look great

I wonder how the wheels would look without the fake spinners and leaving the center hub cap chrome. I think I'll give that a try.

Centerpunch- I am impressed. You seem to always come up with a URL for everything! Do you visit every corner of the Web?

The spinners are not fake, they are a Halibrand produced product. These are not "junk" like the ones on ebay. There are no nuts, bolts, screws, etc. These are fastened to the wheel like real knockoffs - they spin onto a threaded sleeve. Until someone comes up with real knockoffs, these provide a very authentic look. They are the first I have seen with a look that resembles the original. The real question becomes "do you like them more than the factory wheels?" When I get mine I'll post the details.

stock wheels

We did the same thing on our stock wheels. Repainted the outer lip of the rim due to the way the spokes of the wheel come up to the lip of the rim. Even though they are BBS wheels, we used Volvo argent silver wheel paint for more durability with nice sheen. Put the original spinner centers back in though. The ones on the car above look good too. Agree too heavy on the stickers and particulary since they left the horseshoes off the rump.

Kirby do you have a set of wheels coming from the same people that made the ones on the heritage above? I think they look great and wold love to have a set for my car. How can I do that?
thanks

Jamie, I should be receiving the same ones within a week or 2. Send me an email and I'll provide you the details when I receive them.

I love my car but have fell in love with the heritage. She is definitely my mistress car. She seems to be the only one that can get away w/ all those stickers. I think it looks great. Woudn't on my car. but on her, FANTASTIC. To all of you heritage owners.. you have the best of both worlds I believe. Great look stock but even better going retro....nice :cheers

Horseshoes were only on the 68 car, a different number (not #6). But I agree they look cool.

If you look close you can see the horse shoes on the back of the #9 car in the photo I posted above.

Yep, #9 in the photo raced in the 1968 Le Mans and it had the horseshoes. #6 raced in 1969 and had no horseshoes. They were both the same car, chassis #1075, just stickered differently for each year.
