Put a GT engine in a mustang yet?

Yes. There is a drag car that runs it.

I wouldn't bother for a street car or anything but a "just because we can" exercise. Why put in an engine that's worth more than the car? You can build a Mustang just as fast for way less money and effort.

Any Pics?

This guy is looking to build a turbo drag car

I can't remember what rag it was in, but it was in one of the Mustang drag magazines like 5.0 or MM&FF. It was a big name...maybe it was Walsh?

GT engined Mustang

Paul's High Performance here in Michigan did a GT engined Mustang for the SEMA show in 2005.

The car was called 'Platinum Pony", for what its worth.

It required a lot of work. The intake, since is it directed to the rear of a GT, goes through the cowl of a GT. The other big issue, is mating up a transmission to a GT block. The starter is on the transaxle side on the GT.

I think the new Shelby Mustang KR has a supercharged V8 with 540 HP. The Supersnake version has 600 HP. Probably both have engines and supercharger similar to the GT but I'm not sure.

GT Engine is a.....

Ford 500.

During the rally ast year, at FWHQ, a Ford 500 quietly pulled through the lot and parked off to the end of the HQ bldg. Something sound "different" as it drove through, but it was a nondescript 500.

A few of us walked over to look at it, as a few exec's came out and had gathered around the car.

One of the local community colleges was given a GT motor and trans axle set up, and a 500. Auto class was given one school year to mate the two together. A number of Ford engineers donated time at the CC to give them technical advice.

Basically they ended up with is a rear drive Nascar stocker. Full roll cage.Very nice workmanship. From what we were told the biggest problem was where/how to mount the cooling system and route the coolant lines. Not sure what happened to this car. I believe it went to some car shows. To show what CC auto tech can do. They did great by the way.

This may be another one " that got away". Wish it was in my garage.

This effort showed up in a quite a few auto magazines as well as one of the auto build up TV shows. The blacked out BBS wheels looked great in contrast to the blue body and white stripes.

KINGMAN - thanks for the link. It's been year since I saw this car.

Still Awesome!:banana

And I still want it in MY garage.

It would be cheapest just to take a navigator 5.4L motor, build the internals, and swap the GT heads, since chances are, if you're going to spend that much money, you'd want to push it as much as possible.

Cold Feet.....

Thanks for all of the info..... I think he is getting cold feet now. So keep your eyes open he maybe selling the GT engine. It's a complete engine all acc ect...... he did sell the stock supercharger because he wants to go with a turbo, it does still have the intake on it.
