Hi I am sorry if this is really a silly question but where can I find pads for the GT?

Which pads come on the car? Do you know the compound?

Also what about the brake fluid? Have any of you bled the system yet? What have you replaced it with?

Thanks again

Are you looking for street or track use?

Well I am thinking of taking it to the track for a DE. I have a track car and the GT does not seem to me as it would be the best car on the track in stock trim.. but it would be fun to stretch its legs a little.

I am not planning to drive it 10/10.. but I am sure the pads/rotors combo will get a beating.... that's why i was also thinking of upgrading the brake fluid...

The GT will take some getting used to in regard to braking points and traction through the turns. As you are aware it can be easily spun if too much power is applied too quickly.

On larger tracks it will run and hide from the 911s both an the straights and turns. 911 drivers don't like GTs. No need to brake late with the GT.

That said if you brake late and hard the pads should last one day.
At the end of the first day look closely, if you see the pads close to the scraper on the front change them! Then go back out and have fun.
Rotors should last about 4 days.

Don't worry about small stress cracks on the rotors. This is normal for all cross drilled rotors.

Always bring erxtra pads to the track. Stock pads work fine as does the stock brake fluid for DEs.

Where do u suggest I get spares?

I was looking at some EBC pads (never heard of EBC before) red compound...

I am still not used to the GT dynamics... Especially on corner exit, which should be the easiest.... On my 911s I just nail it, sometimes even b4 apex and it just rotates the car and with the rear bias I never experience any traction issues (bear in mind i am talking about early 911 dynamics... no 996 or 997 experience).

With the GT, I still do not have the convidence... Granted it has always been on the street so there is also the issue of doing triple digit speeds in a turn but...

What I love abt the GT is the composure at turn in. The steering feel is fantastic and the car just dives in for the apex...

Anyway I am just going to take it easy on the track. It's not a fast track (it's the Carolina Motorsport Park) and it is heavy on the brakes (short straight - turn, short straight - turn, fast corner - short straight - slow corner).

I just want to see how it is out there...

Caution, running race pads on the street is NOT the answer, when they are cold they offer reduced stopping power. ALWAYS keep this in mind.

barondw ,
do you do any de,s with pca or club race?

I just noticed that Pagid does have a racing pad for the GT...
2847 for front and rear.

I am quite happy running Pagid RS Black on the street... they have nice "easy" progressive caracteristics... I think i will try these...

I piggy back with various groups such as Phoenix at Watkins Glen.

With reference to ECB pads, they are a well known race product in the UK for track day use and road use. The red ones are usually for track use only, the one you should be looking at, is the ones called the green stuff, which is for road use and rack days.

stock GT pads for the track

Is the stock GT pad material different than on Ford's other cars? They amazingly seem to work well on the track with fair wear also. They aren't cheap from Ford. I can get an easy 3-4 hours of hard track use on a set of front pads. I've never had a car that I could use the stock pads on the track except for the GT.
