The GTX1 is on display at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale. The car has recently been fitted with Borla headers and mufflers and a smaller pulley which adds 3 pounds of boost. These mods increase the HP to about 640. We have to wait until this weekend before the fire marshall will let them start the car to move it out of the enclosed display area. Current location of the car is the duPont Registry Booth. The GTX1 is the cover car for the February issue of the Registry.

Is that confirmed or an estimate? And was there a reflash of the chip or anything?

Assuming the car was 530-540 rwhp stock...those headers+ are adding bigtime when taking the quoted sentences at face value :thumbsup

Gtx1...

My understanding is that Ford reflashed the car after the pulley was replaced and the car dynoed 618 HP. This was before the headers and mufflers were replaced and the car has not been re-dynoed. If you are attending the Barrett-Jackson, stop and speak with Mark Gerisch who is with the car and doing the Roadster upgrade for Ford. He is the authority on this car and the modifications that have taken place.

Cool! Would love to see some pictures. Are you serious about the fire marshall ?

Jamal Hameedi, who is the GT program manager is out there right now too. If anybody can snag him, he has some really unbelievable and interesting stories to tell about the whole GT process. We sat down for a drink at Starbucks last weekend and I just lapped all the cool stuff he had to say up. I'm hoping to get him to do an "official" interview for the forum in the near future.

Many pics at the end of the post...

I just got back from Barrett Jackson. Heritage #5 (a factory test/engineering car) and Heritage #8 were both parked next to each other, both having the #9 on them.

Talked to the rep for a while there, told him about 2005 #24 and 2006 #498 in my family blah blah blah...Nice guy, said he was part of the engineering sector for the GT program. He said they normally send promo reps out for viewings such as BJ but they wanted him out there for the week.

Then I moved onto GTX1, and took many pictures of angles "that matter" (i.e. where and how they cut, overall look etc). I must say, they did a excellent job on that oversized subwoofer between the seats. The second time I came back to the car there was a very nice (and knowledgeable) lady who was more than happy to raise the engine cover after I said I wanted to see the Borla headers etc. on the car. She was suprised to say the least, and that I was the 1st person she has talked to who knew the car had them on. They put them on last week for the BJ auction...

Then she went off on a huge tech binge. Turns out she watched and helped them do the install. First thing I asked was if they dropped the engine to do the swap. She said no, and that it was suprisingly easy to do on a lift (duh :lol ). The drivers side was a little tricky; they had to raise the engine about 1/4 to 1/2 to get it to fit right, and they had to cut a tool (I assume a wrench) in half to get the bolts all the way installed. She also said the bolts supplied by borla with the kit wern't that great/didn't fit right and that they reused the factory bolts and everything is fine.

She ended by saying "you'll be deaf if you're behind the car at WOT with this exhaust system on it". :thumbsup

Now for the pics:

OK, here come the GTX1 pics. I tried to get angles people on here would want to see/possibly have not seen:

One of the local GT owners had the pulley change and flash and the Borla exhaust and a dyno after of +/- 710. I had the same done to mine but have not had a chance to dyno yet. The increase of hp is very noticable.

How much boost did he add?

50, thanks for posting those pics - and the angles we want too!

No coating on the headers and no heat shielding?

Thanks for the pics :thumbsup

Heritage number 9

When you say Heritage number 9 is there, do you mean via Vin number 0009??? Thanks for the help.

You dont need coating on Stainless steal.

Heat shields though, would be a good idea.

Right. I have stainless works (stainless steel) headers on my stang and they are lifetime guaranteed.

Neil

They are vin numbers 5 and eight. Interestingly, P/1075 is stored part of the year in Scottsdale. Ford was trying to get it parked for the show between the 2 heritage cars but the insurance for the week was "a bit pricey" :lol

2005 vin # 7 was also there:

Sorry for the poor quality:

I have herd of these numbers as well. Last week I watched at GRC performance in So. Cal. a 05' with 3000mi top out at 516hp. (Mine will go on as soon as it passes 1000mi)
This weeked they start filming the process of installing a Borla exhuast, flywheel swap (He thinks the pully is already a bit small) and a reflash.I will post the results.
The show will air on Dish Network.

Thanks for the info and pictures! The Heritage cars look GREAT!!

710 hp???

is that at the crank or the rear wheels??

how much boost was he runnin?

did his exhaust modz include both the header and the cat back or just the cat back only?

GTX1 at...

Fast Freddy,
The additional boost the GTX! received was 3 lbs. They later added Borla headers and mufflers without cats. It has not been dynoed since the exhaust was completed, but is estimated to be about 640 HP at the rear wheels, which would indicate the 710 HP dynoed car is not RWHP.

640 rwhp= 753 crank/flywheel assuming 15% drivetrain loss.
710 crank/flywheel = 604 rwhp
