Well , lets stir some more soup, have you noticed , as i have over the last 16 months or so no matter how good the kit , complete or not that they are so cheap that its not even worth it. I had been looking at 3 gt40 kits until the arrival of our new gt, Our gt s are so great that even at the last auction a REAL GT40 ,UNLESS WELL DOCUMENTED AND RACED ARE TAILING OFF, NOW THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OUT THERE LIKE MY ONE OF A KIND SIGNED BY EVERYONE AT FORD ,PLUS SAM THE JEEP MAN ....GT :biggrin , THATS WORTH THE MINT, BUT WHAT IM GETTING AT IS THE NEW GT IS SO GREAT, CREATURE COMFORTS, RELIABILITY, WARRANTY AND JUST THE REAL DEAL THAT ITS HARD TO BEAT. Maybe im off but , on this one , 5 years ago a gt40 kit was about 110 to 125 GRAND soup to nuts, but on ebay or where ever you cant break 35,000 all day complete...... WHAT SAY YOU. GTJOEY 1314 :thumbsup

no sure whats up with the kits--was never interested in any kits. to me a kit was always cheap looking. its like years ago, when people would put rolls royce grilles on a vw--paleeeeese !!!!
anyway-------by me signing that gt of yours, it makes it the rareist gt on earth--yours is the only one i signed !!!!!(no one else wanted me near their gt's--hehehehehe).
good to see your still alive and kicking
hoping to meet up with 3 or 4 other jerseyites 2morrow morning for a car show in north jersey
we will let you know how we did

SIR GTJOEY,
I would tend to agree with you on the "cheapness" considering the cost of these kits. I believe the costs are because of the popularity that the new GT's have brought back to the market. I am sure that the true lovers of the GT would say that they have always been popular but in the larger view of the market, since our arrivals... it has probably sparked more interests in individuals who have for themselves, just discovered the GT.

I did some research on the Kits of the Cobra 427. $35K to $60K for a reasonable car??? I do believe that cost would be perfect for the GT KITS??? $120K for a KIT seems like a supply and demand and that is unfair to the individuals who want that history but can't afford it yet...

I would buy a complete KIT in heritage for $50 - $60K but I would let you twist my arm to go buy the Saleen heritage for $60K :cheers

I was considering a kit GT40 for several years until about 2003 when Ford started making noise about building the new GT.... I thought I'd better wait and see how it turned out, man :lol ! am I ever glad I waited...

I took my GT to a car show this morning.... you could not have drawn more crowd attention if you'd had the Space Shuttle there... it was incredible... :biggrin there was a crowd of enthusiast car folks around the car from 7:30 AM 'til about 2:00PM when I had to leave..

The collapse of the Roaring Forties and the Robert Logan debacle has really hurt the GT40 replica business.. there are still several good mfgs out there like ERA, SPF, CAV, MDA, RCR and a few others, but I no longer have the patience, energy, or ambition to take on a project of that magnitude.

I thank God each day for my good fortune in life, one of which is my new GT.

Along with my Wife & Children.
We all seem to be Truly blessed.

I was (and still may) thinking of a replica GT40. I think one reason for the drop in prices is because the new "turn key" kits are VERY good in build quality and at a very reasonable price $65000 to $75000. This I believe is killing the older units.
I have only seen the new CAV and SP and not the others mentioned but these are very well done.

here is one I found on the internet for $50K steve. let me know if you want his contact

I saw many many GT40 replicas at Le Mans this year for the Classic. Superb looking and totally original looking - the result of much affection and hard work from their owners.

However on the few hundred mile run from the UK to Le Mans, I arrived after driving my GT feeling cool and collected - totally unruffled in fact. The GT40 chaps (at least the ones I spoke with) had a journey considerably less refinded.... I think they're rather cramped and hot in comparison - just like the real thing.

I have not seen a CAV in the flesh - would like to do so, I hear they're superb.

The pace car that led the LeMans Revival in Heritage livery was a CAV :wink

That car looks like a CAV from the picture. If it is it would have to be from the very latest run (last 8 months) due to the many upgrades it would already have. the two most important being more legg room and updated suspension.
I also noted when shopping for a replica many builders were on a budgit and limited on what they could put in the car for a drive train. Iron blocks, carbs and Audi trans. were just three places one could save a bundle when getting the car to the road.
To me the car needs an alum. large cu.in. small block, webber style injectors and a ZF trans. This alone was to be in the $40,000 range.

Not too sure on the specs of this car but would be willing to find out.. Didn't want to waste too much of his time because I wasn't that interested. Only because I want the Heritage colors... Price is nice though. I have inquired about a herritage through Cav. I just worked for a month on a Saturn Job driving their new SUV for the brochure and the German phtographer has actually been to the CAV plant. Very nice he said and he might come down to LA to do some pro shots of my GT. If you guys are interested when he comes down, let me know. He keeps a Mustang GT in LA for when he's in town. A truly car guy photographer.

Saturn, I know is GM but here's a pic of the new SUV. We shot in Bend, OR. and Portland, OR. and Mt' Renier,WA.

GT 40 Recreations.

Gentlemen,

I take delivery of my CAV GT 40 (duplicate of the Pace Car at Le Mans this year) November 14th. I have been to the factory and can attest to the superb quality of the build. These folks are true craftsmen ( 2 cars a month) and enthusiasts. It's better than any GT40 that came out of the original factory. I know David Piper's car quite well. No, it's not the same car at our GT's. Never was - never will be. Don't confuse the two. Two completely different cars - but built with the same purpose and enthusiasm. Enjoy both.

PS: Bony - on your trip, please stop by CAV in Westlake and check on mine!!

Gordo.

PPS: CAV not to be confused with the "Superformance """!!!Continuation!!!""" GT40"

"The pace car that led the LeMans Revival in Heritage livery was a CAV"

I didn't know that Bony - I didn't get close to it either unfortunately....

Cav

Nielda - I spoke to the fellow who drove it to the track - evidently the reception it received was tremendous. They were mobbed most of the week-end with spectators and drivers ogling it, with much oohing and aahhhing.
