This morning I have a sales team at Romeo with our machines in a big rig for a show and tell with the engineers. I plan on meeting them with the GT to park under the awning....got to have eye candy.

If they let us take in Cameras I will get some shots. We are going to be parked near the Nitche engine line that build the GT motor and now building the Shelby.

Pockets if your reading this...the plant is only 4 miles from my home....so I wont put to many miles on the gal (thought you would be proud):rofl

Please be certain to express my personal appreciation for the wonderful assistance afforded me if the un-named party is there as well.

Thank you again and takes care

EP, are you slowly turning into a pirate? Your accent certainly seems to be developing into something akin to Blackbeard.

Arrrr. Jim lad, me hearty, arrrrrrrr. :lol

My best day in the GT

Well it was a good turn out of all the real proud Romeo people.

Even the two guys who's names are on my motor came out and took photos. A really nice young lady came and said she was part of the only 7 remaining launch team for the GT motor stopped in and offered any help or advice. I was amazed at how they all braved the cold & wind to see the GT.

Made me feel good that some americans still take extreem and I mean extreem pride in what they do. One guy came out who is sponsored by Ford racing and they gave him a GT motor to put in his world record holder Ford Lightning.

In his lightning he is running 28# of boost, I nearly fell over.......I could not imagine this much boost.

Anyhow I got to tell you guys something. The guy who put together the show and tell session with our display trailer for all the engineers (Bill), called his 24 year old son at home to come see the GT. He then asked me if I could take him for a ride. I said sure and when we were about done for the day he showed up.

This young man (24) was polite, very slim and very nice.....you could tell he really Loved his family. So while riding I asked where he went to school as my youngest daughter was the same age. He said well after high school he has tried to attend a local university but he gets sick often and it doesn't work out for him........Hmmm I said why do you get sick so often....now the whole time we are riding and he is really enjoying the spirited ride. He said he has Cystic Fibrosis (not long to live) I was shocked and we talked and I told him I would pray for him and have our pastor put him on the church prayer list. He said "could you also include my 21 year old brother?" I said why? He said "my brother has CF even worse and is in the hospitol waiting for a lung transplant".

I was quiet as words just escaped me.......he said but I really love the GT and that his dream was to go over 120mph if he ever feels well enough to make a trip and find someone with a car and a nice day.

Romeo is in the farm country so off we went to a remote place with no driveways and a long line of sight (top of 4th gear run). And after seeing this young but frail man's smile I felt both sad and glad all at the same time.

Imagine that......

Had a similar experience a few months ago. One of the gals that works with me has a son with cancer (sarcoma of the jawbone). He has had numerous operations, radiation, and chemo. Very poor prognosis long term. Anyway, I took him for a spin in the GT at her request. Got the car up to "speed". A Porsche Boxster rolled up on us and we left him behind. The kid is still talking about it. He's got pictures of us in the car posted in his room.

Tom, putting a huge smile on that young guy's face & sharing an experience w/him (that he will probably never have again) was an incredibly sweet thing to do! :thumbsup I'm sure he appreciated the rather spirited ride more than most would. Thank you for sharing that story with us.

Tom,
the smiles you put on on the young mans face are forever. In your mind as well as his.

The GT Perm-A-Grin lives!

Damn shame about the CF. The medical research genius's are getting close with new treatment products.

You made my day, too!:banana

Tom,
What goes around comes around. Your reward is coming! Bravo!
You made my day!
God Bless you and America,
daniel

Great post. You made him feel good, it made you feel good, and it made us feel good to hear about it. Prayers and best wishes for the young man involved.

Don't reply to this. I trust the speedo saw at AT LEAST150 in the space available????????

I know mine would have.

Well done Tom. :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Thanks everyone.....What a world this could be if all it took was a ride in a GT. I do not want any acolades just wanted to share something and how something like a ride in the GT can make a person Like young Daniel feel so good. Kind of make you want to check around for others to take for a ride.

Well if you guys dont have any objections I will post up when I find out anything about Daniel. Considering his dad is the controls engineer on the block line at Romeo Engine I thought it would be approiate to this forum.

Just got to be a momento gift or something we can send him.......I am drawing a blank. Do we have any GT forum hats or signed t-shirts or things like that?

I still reflect on what you did and I agree that it would be nice if something as simple as a ride in the GT could bring joy to many more.

As for a hat, shirt, jacket................... I do not know of anything in the proverbial pipeline "HOWEVER" if you order him a custom jacket or ??? I will gladly and quickly pay the bill

He lives close to you and the idea of handing him such an item from the man that made his day will likely be a memory and set of emotions that neither of you will soon forget.

Our cars go that fast? holy cow :eek

MJ & Bill have offered to help with a gift from the GT Forum if anyone else would like to join in I think we can make a nice gift to Daniel.

I know he said he learned Auto Cad design and he and his brother Bryan (who is now in the hospitol waiting for a lung transplant and also has CF) reverse engineer parts at home to make gas money and such. This is a pretty neat as my sales manager said they cannot get a job because they never know from day to day how sick they will be.

I know a bunch are having fun at SEMA so I imagine the posts will be down a bit.

The "GT" Ford built a dream car thats the best medicine in town.

Here is a picture of Daniel as taken by Tom during the visit/event. As Tom said; the picture as taken with his phone is not great but the emotions conveyed come through loud and clear.

Takes care

Under the hood

I have found that they "Power" these cars have is not all under the hood. One of the things I enjoy most about owning "special" cars is their ability to put a smile on peoples faces. Sometimes I enjoy seeing that affect on others even more than owning all the stuff I do.
