wow....I know this is not very interesting to you guys by now, but it sure was an experience for me.....Great big HUGE tractor trailer rig meets me at a shopping center, and that thing is lower to the ground than a GT! Car was tied down by the tires, so I hope the suspension was not damaged in transit. Should have taken pictures of the truck, as it had ferraris painted on the side, and is quite a sight! It was shipped by Western, out of Denver. The driver was a big man, so he persuaded me to get in the truck, and back the car out of the upper deck onto the lift, so it could be lowered to the ground. That was frightening for me, as I could just see this thing dropping like a hammer into the abyss with me in it. I try rolling it back in neutral without power, and that works for a bit. Then I have to start it, and back up. Again, frightening for me, as I have never even been in one of these things. I am sure I smoked the clutch, as I could smell it......I ease it back after a few minutes, and the clearance was surprisingly TIGHT in this huge trailer. Lift goes down like it should, back her up A OK. Tip the nice driver $40, and drive it home. Drives easy. Shifts precise.....probably because of my plenty heated up clutch. Want to say THANK YOU about the help I have already received on this sight. Found my car here on the classified listings....Had it shipped to Dallas from Nebraska for 154k all in. It is black, no stripes, red calipers, upgrade wheels, no macintosh. That seems to be about where the market is, for what it is worth. Bony was helpful in my securing all the items that are supposed to be included, and any help from other owners in the Dallas area would be greatly appreciated. Am going to do an XM, IPOD ready install today hopefully. Any suggestions as to insurance appreciated greatly! Will probably pass on engine mods for now, as I can see God in this thing as it is, I am sure. At 46, not immortal like I once was. Thanks again for all your help! I am not quite as afraid, or scared as I was with this insane purchase as before, and you guys are the difference!

Awesome man. I can imagine backing that thing out of a narrow trailer was a major scare with pretty much zero rearward visibility. Enjoy the many miles of haul ass to come!

p.s make sure it's in FIRST!

Welcome to the Dallas Family...we need to have a get together after the ralley for the owners down here as we haven't done it in a while...I will get that setup.

Sounds like the driver had the car secured propery if it was via tire bonnets and not the suspension...its the way your suppost to secure it.

Have fun driving and enjoy the car...what part of Dallas are you in?

matt

Welcome to the family... where did you purchase your car from? I had to get mine outta' Minnesota 'cause the DFW dealers are all still on the $250K price fantasy.

Matt... get something set up and I'll try and make the drive in to town.

Congratulations on your new GT.

You will really like the machine.

We need more of these things in Texas!!

Welcome Aboard.

Enjoy The Ride, It Is Truly Amazing.:biggrin

I live in Bluffview, near Lover's Lane and Inwood Road.

congrats, pretty special day!!
strapping the car down by the tires is the only correct way to secure the GT, no worries, it was done right!

Seriously?? That's where I live!! Well for the time being! I'm in the process of moving to a condo in the Turtle Creek area. What street are you on?

Wait a minute! I live in Bluffview also :biggrin . On Cochran Chapel Rd. We definitely all need to hook-up :cheers .

Sign me up for the Texas "GT Get Together", I live in Mansfield. Two of my friends own GT's. One here in Mansfield (duplicate of mine Tungsten/Stripes/All Options; man do we have fun with the Cop's) and the other lives in Dallas.

How about a meet a the Speedway?

You Texas guys always have the best car crews. Makes me seriously jealous. I was born in Fort Worth, so maybe I can be an honorary Texas member.

Congrats and welcome to the Texas owners group. I'd love to get out to DFW and get some seat time at MSR or TWS with some other GT freaks...

DBK- Tell me where to send the certificate (printed on 100% recycled Texas cow manure :biggrin ) and the pointed shoes!!

Once a Texan always a Texan DBK...you're just on loan to Michigan :)

Once we get the rally we will do something in Dallas..

last time we met at the Gaylord Texan and had lunch..How about we do something at Southlake Town Square? I can take care of the parking..I know the owners really well....whats everyone up for and we can set a date here this week for the end of August.

matt :banana

Sounds Good! :cheers

Congrats on the new car....I am in for a meet. Let me know where and when.

Thanks Matt

I am in for the end of August and the location is fine too. I should have all of the "add-ons" done by then! :thumbsup

Man, if you guys can put something together at Texas Motor Speedway, I'm there! Is it possible?

Well I'll be damned! I lived one street over from you in Shorecrest! Just finished moving yesterday! I saw a red one at NW and Lemmon one day a few weeks ago with a young lady in the passenger seat. I tried to talk to her, but she looked at me like I was crazy! I was in the Denali though, so it wasn't obvious. Was that either of you guys? Remember a really good looking lunatic waving his arms at you??? :lol
