Gentlemen, we have talked several times about the Gt-40 replicars here on this site. Several members own them.

Out of the two types RCR and Superformance which one would seem to be the best for a track day car?

For the track, I think I would go with the Holman & Moody version - a Mark II built to the original specs.

the best GT40 replica you can buy is the "shelby series" superformance GT40 with the 427 roush engine and velocity stacks :bow mark II body style painted in black :cool

on a road course i would be eating corvette Z06's alive. it only weighs 2500 lbs and has 550 HP :cheers

I have a RCR GT40 that is used mostly on the track . I absolutely LOVE it and have no regretts in my choice. And at 670hp/2300#, there isn't much that will touch it! ;)

I would take either. I think I saw that RCR at thunderbolt raceway at SAAC33.

If it was the same car it was FAST!!!!

I was going to purchase one of these, but could not agree on having it built before payment of any kind, so i purchased a Viper ACR X, i know that Dodge will stand behind their product.

the best one would be the full on race spec SPF GT40R I just had built that I'm probably going to have to sell. If your interested drop me a note! :)

I know some will find this to be in poor taste but I could not resist posting these pictures of a Gt40 replica. In college I drove a 1987 Dodge Omni that was the least appealing car I have ever seen and I took a bunch of "good hearting" ripping from friends. The pictures brought me a light hearted chuckle when I saw them and I was hoping they might do the same for you. My intent is not to make fun of the owner or a car he might value.

I think replica cars are great and I have peviously owned a Factory Five Daytona Coupe and loved the car. It was beautiful and very track worthy.

By the way it is for sale Ebay, starting bid $2,800

Astra

I think that car is called an Astra. I bought one in the 70s, had a ball pretending I was a GT40 driver. I won Le Mans many times before the VW motor let go. There is a guy that tracks these cars.

Mine just needs a little work, to be good as new.

you guys crack me up!.... :bored

I thought about the spf gt40R but have not seen one in person. the only spf I have seen to date was at rally 2 and then did not get a chance to put my backside into.

I think in the past there was a discussion about the RCR 40 being a better handling car on the track. can't find the thread now.

Love the blue on the car in this thread.

While I have no experience in any other GT40 (real or reproduction) I really enjoy the SPF on the track! I love the fact that folks like Bob Bondurant say it drives like the originals, makes the experience even better.

Did I see plywood at the clamshell hinge points? Sort of like a paint by numbers Rembrant.
