Not a huge Jalop fan, but this is exciting news, GO LIKE HELL might be made into a movie!!! Not sure how you feel about Tom Cruise (but Top Gun was fun), but GT40's and LeMans!!!

That's going to be awesome! TC is a whackjob for sure, but I couldn't care less about his personal beliefs or life. He's a charismatic actor. Period.
Ken Miles....hmm.....Tim Robbins?

They've been working on the flick for quite a while. Tom Cruise can be good, but in my view he is unlikely to be convincing as a tall Texan.

I have a friend , John Krazinski , who is mostly known for comedy who would be great. I would rather see Danica in it than Cruise.

Krazinski's a good actor. I'd prefer him to Cruise. Loved the book, we'll see about the movie when/if it ever comes into fruition.

I didn't see Reacher. Was TC convincing as 6'5" Jack Reacher? :)

"...Ford challenged Ferrari with a car designed by racer-turned-car designer Carroll Shelby - the GT40."

Who writes this stuff. They obviously have never read the book, or for that matter, the real history of the development of the GT40. Authors of articles nowadays take so many liberties, and then other people believe it and quote it as fact. These writers just make things up as they go.

Pisses me off!!!

RALPHIE, Call them out! Don't let them get away with it. :)

Thanks, Rex -

I copied my comment here to the comments section of that article in Variety - let's see if it gets anywhere.

Also added a 2nd comment.

They screwed it up too:

"......recaps Ford’s successful 1966 challenge to Ferrari with a car designed by Carroll Shelby."

That should be enough to put Ralphie into a blind rage:)

EDIT: Too late. He already let loose on the Variety hacks.

let loose on "Dark Horizons" too.

Please Ralphie,

it's absolutely mandatory, that this so called "scriptwriter" stays with the real facts, and that's not a freedom of inventing the story new,
just because that would be maybe better understandable for the future audience . . . . . .
agree ?

Absolutely! :thumbsup

I'm thinkin' Carroll is gonna' haunt Tom Cruise on the set every day, if he actually plays that role. :rofl

Unless Go Like Hell is destined as a fictional piece (read: Days of Thunder) it is a good opportunity for Ford to step-in, offer assistance in story development/reality. They certainly have a rather deep archive to offer. Can you say product placement??

I just want everyone to know that I think AJ Baime did a masterful job putting his book together. I found one minor flaw in his book, and he was very appologetic about it - an insignificant error.

I grew up with writers and authors (like AJ) who were committed to factual reproduction of events, and performed the dedicated research necessary to take pride in their presentations. I abhor writers (and newspeople and politicians) who will not check their facts and just make them up to serve their own purpose.

What he said! ^^^

If they are going to use Cruise for Carroll I think SpongeBob Squarepants would make a good Deuce.

Stupid casting choice.

A million better options. Jeff Bridges. Tom Selleck. Tim Robbins. Patrick Dempsey (a real-life racer). Almost anyone who can actually act and stands over 5'6".

Ya but Cruise sells movies - and they want to sell a ton of this movie.

Stupid casting just like they did in "The Butler" movie where they chose a traitor, Jane Fonda, to portray Nancy Reagon. What an insult.
