Fuel Filler Problem

Hi GT101,
thank you for the quick response. I will check with them for sure. If it is easy for a workshop to install maybe my Ford guy Here can do it as well if I order the parts from Andre Quakernack at Hagemeyer as they are not around the corner.

I wouldn't say it's easy to do - definitely would want someone who's worked on GTs before to be doing it but if you need the parts they're on our online store as linked above.

Thank you and I think I will go with the Hagemeier guys for this fix.

So yesterday I’m headed to a show, filled up and headed out. Car stalled 3 times on the trip, all when I had stopped moving. Seen the posts for the fuel filler problem, but the flap door is still intact. Haven’t checked for any codes yet. Suggestions?

This sometimes happens in brisk side winds. Was it windy that day?

Not at all, happened 3 times when stopped.

Agreed. My review/research showed that when stopped, a solid (10 kts or greater) crosswind MIGHT cause a "blip" in the mass air flow which can cause the computer to hiccup. I think it is more prevalent with non-OEM (K&N) air filters.

I suspect it is related to the MAF sensor. Inspect the wires and make sure they show no signs of rodent damage. If that is good, remove the MAF and try cleaning it with some MAF Sensor Cleaner which is available at most auto parts stores. Many times when the MAF Sensor fails, you will not get a CEL. It will just give a MAF count that is too low and the ECU will command less air from the Idle Air Control causing the engine to stall... all the while each component doesn't think they did anything wrong.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll dig into it and let you know.
