Front tire options for the stock rim

Yeah, but they sure look BAD-ASS grooved! I was the one that caught you on the phone while you were at SafeCraft one day a couple months ago, and now I finally got around to installing them. Can't wait to drive it and see how it hooks up now. Put in the extinguisher system today as well, and if I remember right you were involved in the design. Thank you.

Hi Dave,
It was nice talking to you. I seem to spend a lot of time with Don Warren at Safecraft. We have come up with a good spot to mount a handheld extinguisher in the GT, and I have just built a seat frame to hold one of the racing seats that Safecraft sells. I'm 6-3 and about 260 so will not fit in the car with my helmut on. With this new seat and frame I have plenty of room to wiggle my head. I figure it would just go in on track day since its so easy to change seats in these cars. You're going to love these tires. So far they do not throw stones even when very hot. I practice in a deserted 20 acre parking lot which is not real clean, and have not done any rock chips yet. The extra adhesion takes some getting used too though, with lots more G forces being put to the bod. One of these days I will meet up with you and we will have some good conversations.

I would be interested in what you come up with on the seat. I tried my Sparco Evo from another car and gained next to nothing, if I used a slider and left the bottom cushion in. it does however provide more lateral support.

Removing the cushion netted about 3/4" -1". Removing the slider netted another 1". This is using the lowest holes in the Sparco bracket. Worth noting is that the Sparco universal slider is narrower than the factory slider and shorter. They look the same though. This means you have to fab an adapter to mount to the stock holes. The good news is that you have reasonable acess to do so.

In the end, I think I will end up going your route. I will just mount it to the floor with no slider, delete the cushion and use it only for track days. And BTW there is a small weight savings going this route as well. I know it's hard to believe comparing our carbon to a fiberglass, but it is there for about 2 lbs per side.

Not too sure what you did on the fire bottle mount. I tried lots of things looking for a better way that was fairly simple. I sort of liked mounting it to the side of the radio area on the two screws with a plate, but for me I could not reach it very well if there was a real need. You are taller, so your reach may be better. I ended up using a version of the backet that mounts to the front of the passenger seat. That worked fine and was easy to do.

Keep us posted. Don is a sharp guy.
