... requires a check to confirm I'm human ... and sometimes even after I pass that test the forum times out.

Oh, and it seems the GTD forum has not had any such issues.

Several forums I frequent have added this check recently due to ongoing internet robot issues tying up bandwidth and response times.
A small delay on the front side, but ultimately eliminating the problems and delays in loading the forums in the long run.
From my experience it has been worth the check overall.

I thought it might be that, but wonder why the site sometimes still times out even after verifying I'm human. Maybe it's being bombarded.

It's been the last 2 days for me. None the less I still check in to see how all my friends are doing. Have a great holiday weekend all.

The Cloudfare check is in response to denial of service floods that have plagued three forums I frequent... They go into timeouts then when they come back this appears...

Most often the sequence is automatic and just adds a few seconds to the first page. On some occasions I get where I have to do the checkbox. Most of the time when I have to intervene it's because I'm on a restaurant's "free wifi" and most of them are not encrypted. I don't know what these juvenile delinquents think they are accomplishing by hitting sites like this but it must give them some kind of jollies.

Happening over the past 2-3 weeks for me where cloudflare times out and forum cannot be accessed for 15-20 min, then it works again.
 
Trying to get it solved. Many tens of thousands of spam messages.

Did cloudflare update their interceptor? The "back arrow" button on my browser is pretty broken. It either starts over or gives me an error that requires a new window. This isn't the only one
 
Lighter traffic than usual, but it's working for me.
 
I cleared my site cookies and its pretty good now.
