Is this raising cash for something in the future or trying to be profitable?

I wonder when they are going to sell the parts line for our cars out.

It's like selling body parts to buy bandaids to stop the bleeding.

Jaguars made in Jaipur? Range Rovers from Rajasthan?

Whoa Nell,
Got to be flexible, roll with the punches and the times...
Just got the new list of options and all models will now come standard with an incense burner :-)

Jaguars made in Jaipur? Range Rovers from Rajasthan?

See what colonialism got you.

Seriously if you look at resources put into Jaguar amd what it will take in the future for both Range/Land Rover and Jaguar it makes financial sense based on the small profit projections from these divisions compared to expenses.

yeah but the new parent company names says a lot. As in Ta Ta ... (mental picture of someone waving goodbye)

Tata is a huge conglomerate in India. They own multiple companies in multiple industries, and they are highly successful. This is like a feather in their cap, or a diamond in their turban as some would say. The only reason Ford allowed Tata to buy these two major brands is because Tata is the only company who was originally thinking of bidding capable of running them profitably - and Ford believed that Tata would not dilute the brands.

BTW the Indian economy is doing incredible at the moment, multiple conglomerates like Tata, Reliance, Idea, and King Fisher are growing like mad. King Fisher just bought an F1 team and called it Force India.. They aren't the greatest team yet, but the owner is willing to invest big money to make them successful.
