Yesterday I read an old thread where centerpunch was responding to praise about his website and he gave out his address and email where you could send: "tips, blank checks, beer money, gift cards, or death threats to:
Centerpunch
P.O.Box 43151
Cincinnati OH 45243
or Paypal gratuities to [email protected]"

So I thought to myself, I am about to purchase my car in the next couple weeks and this guy have saved me thousands. I'm gonna send him $50 and say thanks for website. So, I did.

Centerpuch wrote back and said that he has received emails from many people thanking him, but that was the first donation ever to his website cause. Wow, that's amazing. Also disgusting. I think we all owe him big time. From reading the threads here, everyone seems like really good people. Maybe we have just forgotten something. Do you think any of us would miss $50 out of the tens of thousands he has certainly saved us all? Not trying to be a spokesperson for him, just speaking from my own conscience.

It's been mentioned before that an annual subscription might be the way to go. Alternatively we set up the GT Owners (or Drivers) Club - a window sticker and a regular newsheet. The subs to the club could part fund the Forum.

There's no doubt that the Forum is incredibly useful along with being a nice place to discuss 'stuff'. The majority of owners would like to give back in some way I think - but we should all do that.

Perhaps a worthy charity?

The $50 was a nice gesture but perhaps we could all get behind a worthy charity in the Forum's name instead and centerpunch could pick it.

Guys, the forum and fordgtprices.com are independant entities. :lol

I started fordgtforum, Centerpunch started fordgtprices. We just ended up on here because it's a small world.

If you want to donate to fordgtprices for its efforts, you can do it directly through Punch's site. :cheers

Ford GT Forum Funding

DBK,
How is the Ford GT Forum funded? It has to cost a significant amount of money to have this all hosted and managed.

Me and our supporting vendors. It's not that big a deal for now. There'll come a day when I have to add more vendors to cover it as we use more and more bandwidth, but with only a couple hundred members, I got it covered. :cheers It's really a much bigger time investment than monetary, which is fine because I love doing it.

When we hit 1,000 members I may do a site supporter type deal alot of the car sites are doing now so it doesn't turn into an addfest. And supposedly you get a warm fuzzy feeling for keeping the site running :lol

Just to be clearer, centerpunch has spent tons of his own money and close to a thousdand hours of his personal time to put up fordgtprices.com without any advertising money. All that comes out of one man's pocket! Everyone who has benefitted from his site should donate something, which is probably all of us. He's done a killer job. :cheers

I agree, so I also sent him a generous donation as I know his site saved me 10-$20K. That was a nice thought.

I also plan on becoming a supporting vendor when product #2 gets released.

Gentlemen,

Gulf GT said it all. If you own a GT Centerpunch probably saved you money and probably like me you thought "I'll send him a check when I get around to it". Ya get busy and never got around to it............till right now. The check is in the mail. If you're gonna do it, today is good. :biggrin See you at the rally Centerpunch, the drinks are on me.

Same here

I watched Fordgtprices for months. I loved the sound of the sales persons voice when I mentioned the site. I'm sure I saved serious bucks trying to be patient and wait for MSRP, I paid 150K for my Silver car in december. I kept thinking I'd " get around to it" about sending in some dough. He saved us all some money, and invested alot of his time. It's simple, you can even use paypal. No, I don't know Centerpunch personally.
Thanks Teddy

Count me in as supporting member #2. :usa

The ten contributors to date are:

10......hey, it's a start. I have never met Centerpunch and for all I know he may be a child abusing homocidal maniac. But he saved me $20,000 so I'm willing to overlook that. :thumbsup I know many of us have heard an employee say that if they were paid more THEN they would show you what they could really do. The best employees show you what they can do and then...guilt trip you into paying them what they are really worth. FordGTPrices.com showed us how to save big first and now it's time for at least 50 more of us to send the tip. Mail off a c-note and feel your guilt fade away. Centerpunch....if you get 50 more you gotta buy a round of drinks at the rally!! :cheers
Thanks again!!

All right gentlemen, add me to the list, the check is in the mail today. Been holding out not because I'm cheap (well sort of!!) but I've had so many false starts with my car that I haven't been certain I was even going to get one. Got some news yesterday that it's really going to happen. I've got a good story to tell after I receive the car about my efforts to buy this thing in earnest beginning in January 2005.

I distinctly remember when I discovered Paul's website early August last year. I'm working in Martinsburg, W. Va. , probably a nice place to live but not so nice to visit, I'm bored and surfing. I Google 'Ford GT' to see what else pops up that I haven't seen and there it is, a treasure trove of good data and humor. I'd done quite a bit of homework by then and had my own price forecasts, but Paul's site confirmed my thoughts, vastly supplemented my information and entertained greatly. So many many thanks Centerpunch.

And while I'm at it, thanks again to DBK (Dave) for establishing and maintaining this awesome site and nota4e (Kendall) who just received his car, is deleriously happy at this moment, and who has been very helpful to me in sharing purchase, production, and delivery information. Last but definitely not least, very special thanks to White Petunia (Vince) who has become a good friend, held my hand the last several months and shared more good information and contacts than I deserve. No cash now for you guys but deep and eternal gratitude!!!! :cheers

All right gentlemen, add me to the list,

the check is in the mail today.

49 more to go.

I agree with everything all of you have said. I watched this site for at least 3 months. And I educated more than a few dealers, many of whom were unsuccessfully trying to sell GTs at way over MSRP. We all know that Ford dealers never really understood the buying market for this car. And, of course, I might have been willing to pay these outrageous prices had I not known that so many were selling for at or close to MSRP. Centerpunch, used paypal today....thank you! :bow

Knowing that you helped a lot of buyers is such a reward - you will meet many people that "owe" you something and know who you are. :thumbsup

On the otherside, I bet there is more than one dart board in the Ford dealerships with your name on it. :biggrin

Here's hoping they keep missing :cheers

Include me of course as a ready, willing and able $$$ supporter of this site. The topic has come up before, and I assume at the Rally.

I bought my GT two years before the release of the car, so I did not benefit from Center's work. However, I admire him and his site.

Unfortunately, NOT all of us .. :frown :rofl :ack

But great site, and great guy ! Paul, you really pissed of some dealers big time, trust me, I know at least ONE of them...

:cheers
