Ford GT Accident Near Ann Arbor Michigan?

On Saturday I was driving west on I-94 just west of Ann Arbor, Michigan when I spotted what looked like a yellow/black striped Ford GT in the ditch. The car looks like it had been going East bound on 94 and ended up facing backwards on a steep slope next to the ditch. I only caught a glimpse of it since I was trying to concentrate on driving myself. Anyone on here or anyone hear about it? The car looked pretty messed up.

News to me. I don't even know any yellows around here except the car they beat on around Roush 56. Though I do know people who borrow it, one of which coincidentally lives in A2. I wonder...

(p.s, I was just going to PM you on the Alley asking where you were these days. Weeeeeird. :willy It was the defeeted thread that acted as the catalyst :lol)

What's up Dave? Like I said I drove by pretty fast and with all the cars going by and the car sitting on its side it was hard to tell. I'm not used to seeing the car sitting on its side. Either that or it was a Ford Probe that someone painted yellow with black stripes. :biggrin

As for what I've been doing lately, I quit Ford 3 months ago and took a buyout. Now I'm working as a consultant to Ford and other auto makers until I can sell my house and get the heck outta there. Unfortunately that means lots of travel for now and I've been working during the week in Louisville, KY the past 2 months and in Chicago the month before that. What have you been up to? Going to have another Ford GT rally this year?

I got two phone calls about the wadded up yellow GT Saturday night, but neither could tell me who's car it was, or if the driver was OK (they said it didn't look good....).

Besides the yellow Test Car Dave mentioned, I have another yellow GT on the East side of town, but do not know the owner's name.

Jeff

I haven't seen a Yellow GT in town. The question I have is if the area was specifically Ann Arbor? The police should have a public record with info on the car and the driver involved. Also, about what time in the day was it? I can make a call and post what I find.

It was on I-94 near Ann Arbor. The first call I got was from a mobile phone around 3:40PM Saturday afternoon. The caller said they had just passed by the scene.

BTW, this caller is getting pretty good at spotting GT's on Detroit's freeways. Last time, they called to tell me they had just passed a white GT sitting on the side of I-96 with cop cars at both ends of it. Saw it on the news later that night when they did a clip on our favorite artist.....

About 250.

I can see compiling a DB of crashed cars, but that's zero guarantee of avoiding a second hand crashed car. There are a whole BUNCH of wrecked GT's repaired off the books.

There seems to be a problem with the front end of these cars. you never see the rear smashed. :lol

Database of Wrecked GT's

The Shelby American World Registry has for years provided owner and accident history on original GT40's and AC Cobras. The new edition, due out next year, will include the new Ford GT's as well.

I have been collecting data for a couple years now, and, where possible, have included wrecked cars identified by VIN number. The hardcover published book will in the future help protect potential GT buyers from getting taken on a totaled or title-washed car.

If you have information on cars that have been wrecked, with the VIN number, please submit it to me, and I will enter the information into my database. I have quite a few pictures of wrecked cars that I cannot ID by VIN number.

I now have data on over 1900 GT's in the SAAC database. We have all of the VIN numbers from Ford, and will be adding the color and option info as well. I have pictures of over 500 GT's, identified by VIN number. The completed Cobra/GT Registry will probably be over 1,000 pages, and will include the history of all of the original GT 40's, original AC Cobras, and the new Ford GT's. Cars are identified by VIN number and location, and include ownership history (if known), along with the the current owner's name (name can be witheld, if desired).

regards,

Jeff

Jeff, should we send pictures for the GT registry direct to you? Ed

Yes, please send pictures to me (with model year and last 4 of VIN #). We may not be able to use all of the pictures, but we'll certainly use many of the better ones.

regards,

Jeff

If that story is true, someone should seriously -- NO JOKE -- have their license revoked FOREVER! A life sentence of public transportation is too good for him!

Just horrible, makes me mad to read stuff like that. Good thing for him it's 2007, in 1967 this kid would have had a good ass whoppin' for that kind of stuff. Also makes you wonder about the judgement of the supervisor.

Absolutely. Send a lot boy out on the road in a supercar? :bs

The article said a 90 degree turn on to a major road (Scottsdale Road) at 3:00 and hits a dump truck. He's lucky he's alive.

The place where I take mine, only the GT supervisor takes it to the mechanic and back. No one else gets in the car.

So another black one gone (again in this case) - looks like a no stripe one on top of it. :thumbsdow
