Thanks for the kind comments.

John,

My throttleman hurt his back in the last lap of the last race . He has been on bed rest for the last two weeks. It was so rough that both races were cut back to half distances.

You must come to the races next year!!!

EP,

The name was given to us by a german photographer back in 02.

Wow!!!!! Looks wickedly fun.

Awsome shots. Love the engine sounds in the video.

What are you using for power in this class?

Are those IMCO SCX drives? How are they handling the abuse? I ask as I send off my Merc XR's for heavy service after much less of a pounding.

Power is Mercury 525.

The drives are Mercury XRs with imco 1" lowers. ratio is 1:50.

Thats impressive!
But I think I’ll stick to track!

FWIW, Like many big power XR users, I have turned over every possible rock to try to make it stronger. I know you know you can drop a small fortune into these drives. Make one thing stronger, find the next weak link.

This time I discovered the shim used by Merc to support the cone clutch vertically is too thick (if you use the Merc specs). Not enough gear Oil can pass thru and the clone clutch will weld itself together (in gear). Decrease the thickness by .005" and you dramatically increase the oil flow.

But I am sure you already have your drives gone thru with a fine tooth comb. :thumbsup

that was some brutal water....

what kind of hull are you running and what length is it?

Shallow lake here, tall waves with a short distance between them when it get rough, occasional high launch. It seems like we can tear up the XR's at will. Shimming the outside of the pinion to the front retainer helped alot. The shims are not a Merc part. ..

The hull is a "Phantom" . It is a 30 footer.

The Black boat is an "Extreme and its a 29.
