Any ideas to mount a 2.5 lb fire extinguisher in a GT? Looking to take my GT on some local tracks like Laguna Seca, Thunderhill and Infineon (Sears Point).

A simple search would have found this thread and others:

fire extinguisher mount for GT

I mounted my Safecraft 2.5 lb Halon fire extinguisher to a bracket from Livermore Performance. http://www.livermoreperformance.com It's not on their site yet. They have tons of brackets for Porsches, Vettes, etc; but, they finally have one for the GT. You can't adjust the seat fore-aft though. Many of the brackets are this way. I also bought my Safecraft (they come in many colors) extinguisher & Brey-Krause competition belt brackets from Livermore Performance.

Love the black one.

Looks like $437 for the extinguisher and all bracket parts. The site must have been updated.

Is the 2.5 lb fire extinguisher required equipment at those tracks?

Hi, I'm not sure if the tracks themselves require but the Shelby SAAC group has a requirement for a 2.5lb fire extinguisher. I have not had a chance to take mine on a track yet, just hit the 1000 mile mark. I do plan on the Thunderhill track on May 5 and 6 though.

Attached is a photo of my installation. I used standard brackets and just milled an aluminum plate.

I like your bracket and plate much better! Looks much more professional.
I used the chrome color to match my tungsten a little better.

Did you buy or make the extinguisher ring bracket?

Why can't you just stack some rolls of duct tape and fit the extinguisher in the hole?

Cuz the hole is too small, don't you know nuthin?

If you use the duct tape for the extinguisher, where ya going to put the coffee Franky? You and I heard that it was for holding coffee in Wixom from Rich if I rememebr right....

BTW Frank- I use black duct tape to match my car :biggrin

gotta get one today! thanks gents!!

Do you have to remove tank.

Looks like you wont be able to get seat adj with tank in place.
Is this the case.

You will not be able to move the seat after install , Hope this helps

I built a similar bracket, except that I mounted it between the bottom of the seat and the adjusting rails. This way the mount and extinguisher move with the seat, maintaining the original complete range of adjustment.

Do you have pictures Craig?

Is the seat in it's rear-most postition ???????

If so , I think this is an awesome product..

Thanks Graig.

It just looked like that to me.Do you sell that mount.

It is just a simple alum sheet metal piece with a couple of toggles in it so that it just touches the floor when mounted. It is mounted between the rail and the seat using the original Torx screws. You can attach any "off-the-shelf" extinguisher mount to the sheet metal. I will admit the black extinguisher looks good.

Yeah, I am with Ripper. Unless the passenger seat can be in the rear most position, I would be hesistant to mount the extinguisher, with the bracket that prohibits movement.

Thanks Craig for the pic and explanation, I do like the fact that your solution offers mobility.

Yes the seat is all the way back and useing stock mounting thork bolts to mount it, the finish work matches the interior of the car..
