Race is on now.

You can basically skip watching if you're not an Aston Martin fan. They did a BoP adjustment for the N/A cars and it was obviously WAY too much. They are destroying everyone. Max speed during quali was about 10 kph higher for the Aston than it was for the GT. The third place Porsche is already almost 25 seconds behind the 2nd place Aston after 30 minutes.

Not a great course layout to me, but it does lend itself for lots of chaos, so fairly exciting. GTs in P4 and P7. The 66 car got spun out from behind by (drum roll please) a Ferrari on the first lap and is behind by about a minute.

For what it's worth, the 66 Ford CGR UK car is leading the team championship. They are 2 points clear of the 71 Ferrari and 5 points clear of the 95 Aston Martin.

The Aston Martin is virtually a lock to win today and pick up 25 points barring a crash, so they should be leading when we get to COTA. The Ferrari and leading GT are currently P6 and P7 with 4 hours to go.

just tuned in and saw the GT nudge the Aston off track.

Was a GTE-Am Aston though, so no change.

Interestingly, during the race broadcast, the announcers said the NA cars were given a larger air restrictor. Today, Sportscar365 says that's wrong, and the differential was based on the referenced atmospheric pressure set for the turbo cars, which is set before each race. Obviously they got it wrong.

Amusing/sad to watch one of the Astons crash, rip off it's diffuser and knock the wing off fairly late in the race, only for it to have time to pit, replace all that and still end up on the podium. They almost ended up catching the last Ferrari to finish 2nd.

That race was a farce.

Elevation of that area is around 7000' above sea level, as I recall. Could the BoP crew really have missed applying correction factors? Maybe it's time to outsource that activity to someone with technical competence, e.g. Cosworth.

The best website is

I always look over the various data after the race.

The fastest Aston Martin max speed was 271.4 kph. The fastest Ford GT and 488 were both 260.2 kph. Not even close on a fairly short course. The faster Aston had a higher max speed than all but one LMP2 car.

They really need to find another system. The BoP is really a joke. Very frustrating for the teams and the fans!

Really says a lot for Ford to commit to racing in a lottery/ dart board race series.
Maybe they need a new set of balanced darts to figure the next adjustments.

Agreed. That race was a mess. Bumper cars early and late. Hard to watch the Aston's and Porsches drive away from us because of BoP rigging .... I mean adjustments. ;).
