Hi Guys,

Have a '06, 6k miles. On its second battery..always kept on a trickle charger. Went to drive it last night, car -barely- started. Car cranked very slow after solenoid clicked and the engine lit, but none of the guages registered and the CD player (had a disc in) just produced static noise. I shut it down immediately since I didn't have oil pressure read.

I drove the care 2 weeks ago and it started/ran perfect. Current battery is about 2 1/2 years old.

Anyone have any ideas? Think an expiring battery would cause the batteries not to read, and CD player to produce only static?? THANKS!!

Sounds like a low battery issue. What battery did you replace it with? and, do you know the manufacturing date of the battery?

Make sure relays are all seated / pushed down (junction box next to battery)

Sound may be spark jumping loose relay

Simply a dead battery. Nothing more. I'm sure you meant to say a float charger - which floats on and off as needed to maintain a battery. (A trickle charger charges all of the time - not necessarily a good thing.) If your car doesn't see full voltage at key-on, the gauges will not initialize correctly and some or all of them will stay off for the entire duration of that start cycle. Make sure you get a good battery - I'd recommend the Die Hard Platinum and then keep a float charger on it. The float charger should have a light to tell you what's going on.

I replaced the OEM battery with same from local Ford dealer. My charger doesn't have a light on it, I'll pitch it and get the appropriate one. Thanks for the battery recommendation and advice! Knew I came to the right place : D

I'd highly recommend the Cool Tech charger.

Also check the ground connection at the frame. Remove the bolt and clean the cable end and the frame with emery cloth and reinstall the bolt. This issue caused me some of the same issues you described. Starter clicking etc,, Thought my battery was bad but it was just the ground.

Thanks again, guys! Cool Tech it is, and I'll double check the ground connection. ; D

nota4re, I went online, then to an actual Sears to confirm, and found there is no Diehard Platinum that is recommended for the GT. You don't have a part # by any chance..do you? THANKS!

Jeff

I believe the Diehard Platinum part number is 22850080
