I have been looking at various GTs and in the past have been skeptical of early production 05s. I have heard some folks say avoid them, and others say no worries. (yes I used the search button)

For all you sub 500 VIN 05 owners--any problems/regrets? Thanks

Sonic Blue # 0349 .................................GTJoey ................Gino ........... any regrets ? :biggrin

GT#32 here......no problems at all.

#448 and no regrets. I prefer my billet A arms but like the door latch on the '06 (they sound more solid). After a very slight rear panel tweak by the GT Guys my fit and finish is as good as any GT I have seen.

I have number 416 and other than a leaky oil pan and a bad oil pressure sending unit , the car has been trouble free!!! I also love those billet A arms!!!!

#322 here, aside from the recalls (A arms, HS bolts) only issues have been horn button corrosion, coil cover corrosion, and the trunk lid looks like it was put on by Helen Keller (uneven panel gaps).

The billet A arms are like metal bones, very nice.

To date no problems at all.....

I have 1564 which is August 05 (I think), perhaps not early enough, however it's been problem free and a joy to own.

but like the door latch on the '06 (they sound more solid).

This is the first I have heard. I have an 05 (#996). Can you tell me more about the 06 latch?

have the #444. As for standj have some oil leaking and power steering pump issue, but all good for the rest!

p.s. had to replace clutch and fuel filler but definitely do not linked with the vehicle itself

Sometime during the production run (late '05 early '06) the door latch/striker was modified giving the door a more solid sound when shut. I don't know if this was the sole reason for changing this part, Perhaps Dennis or Rich (The GT GUYS) could chime in a explain further.

Steve, I'm not sure if I refere to the same thing you are but the internal door latch mechanism was changed during production because of an issue where the release latch was difficult to operate from the inside. The problem would worsen significantly when the car was parked in the sun and temperatures were higher. As for door sounds when closing - I have found that many of the cars 2005-2006 exhibit a slightly different sound. Some are a lot more "metallic" than others.

# 0507: Power steering pressure hose right off the pimp; power steering pressure hose from front right firewall to steering blockish looking thing; speedy sleeve and rear main seal replaced; many oil changes and transaxles fluid changes; an invisible to the eye miniscule crack in the transaxle case welded up; one oil pressure gauge; couldn't be happier with the car over all, and like the others, the nice a-arms look great and that's why I didn't have my aluminum clamshell vents painted either; they look great just as they are - with a touch of clear.

Thanks for speaking up Kendal. I wasn't aware of the release issue only noticed the sound difference while Rich was working on a few GT fit issues at my shop during rally II. My car is an early '05 and my father in-laws is a very late '06. The difference is IMO very noticeable, mine has the "metallic" sound you mention and his is more of a "thud".

I have #474 and it keeps wearing out my rear tires. They just don't last!

I have number 149. Only regret I have is that I dont have number 150 and 151.......

# 252, White with all 4 options. No regrets or problems, Maybe because E.P. did such a good inspection.. Thanks again Larry.

#102 - I can definitely see differences compared to my mid-year 2006 in "fit and finish". However that does not make it a bad GT. It's amazing every time I climb in and start her up.

Love the billeted A-Arms, the more "raw look" to the clamshell interior, etc. But there are a few items that I'm noticing need attention. Still doesn't concern me in the least.

the more "raw look" to the clamshell interior

Can someone explain?

Can someone explain?

When Shane's '05 #102 was delivered, Shane, Team Jeff & I discussed the difference in finish on the inside of #102's clamshell compared to mine ('05 #138) and I took the first two photos below to try to document #102's finish. For comparison, the third photo below shows the inside of #138 (taken at the last rally, with #102 in the background), which is smoother and is the typical finish I've seen on other GT's. There IS a difference on #102 - I don't know why, and I don't know what other cars may be like this.

The Joyride GT will be at SEMA next week if anyone wants to take a look at the inside of the clamshell.

BTW, I know you've made your decision GT Drummer, but I've been very happy with my early '05. :thumbsup
