Dymags leaking

Dymag wheels have a history of leaking. I have a set of Dymags for the Audi R8 so I decided to take it apart and see what was going on. I didn't want to get new tires mounted and balanced then find out they leak.

What I saw when I removed the screws were comical at best. They are using sealing washers to seal the rim where it screws into the spokes. They also goo it up with silicone sealant or possibly someone else. The sealing washer isn't even given a chance to work since they are using a button head screw which is threaded up to the head. I find it amazing that they all don't leak. What I heard was eventually they do.

Well I decided to redesign the sealing system and manufacture new screws. Owning a machine shop comes in handy here. I'll get some pictures this weekend. For wheels that cost $10k this is really a crime.:frown

Exactly. The idea is great, but the implementation sucks.:thumbsdow
