Dove my GT 780 miles home from the "shop" this weekend

2112

Blue/white 06'
Mark II Lifetime
Well after being at the "tuners" for a couple months, I drove my GT home Saturday coming up I-5 (we Washingtonians do not call it THE five). Had a chance to really let it loose on the beautiful and twisty roads around and over Lake Shasta, by Mt. Shasta and into Medford Oregon. Unfortunately Oregon's highest limit was 65mph and was as low as 50mph on their biggest freeway. I did not want to bring home a ticket.

The car has been transformed. I fully expected by improving the performance potential of the susupension to receive a harsh and tiresome but accurate ride. What I got was a ride that was smooth and comfortable as well as improved performance. Point and shoot steering response with way less oversteer, controlled compression without the harsh rebound I have found on other suspensions, 11hours of constant driving and not feeling washed out when I got home. Very non- fatiguing.

My upgrades;

T&A Penske single adjust coilovers
Bridgestone tires
GTG Bumper delete
Gen II whipple, Accufab TB and Mafia
Ford full length GTX headers and mufflers
dual Subwoofer relocate
Ford Transaxle cooler
Cosmetic Valve cover upgrade
Ford Short throw shifter and exoticare Bezel and boots
Accufab Transaxle bolt upgrade, T&A breather
2 piece front fender liners
Complete calilper repaint and stenciling
Full fluid exchange and all belts replaced
NGK plugs
Full polish, side strip delete and full frontal Venture shield
Several odd and ends to make the car as delivered from factory

Having approximately 200 more horses and the fantastic sound of the GTX system was unbelievable but I have to say the short shifter, suspension and new tires are what really made the car come alive for me. I want to love the Goodyears as they are American but the Bridgestones are so smooth and quiet and the last 300 miles was in rain so heavy the wipers struggled to keep up but the wet performance was IMO every bit as good as the GYs.

I already thought the GT was the finest performing car I had ever driven (no, I have not driven many ultra exotics) but this is completely on a whole new level. I cannot sing the praises of the products or the Tuner enough. I am extremely happy with the end product and am already thinking of more upgrades for the future.

Some quick pictures taken as I got home and finished washing:

'Totally outrageous!!! :thumbsup:thumbsup

Sounds like a fantastic break-in drive. I'm jealous....

Way to Go! and Well Done! And you drive it too.

btw I drove the same road last week- at least from Shasta North to Seattle--And dry all the way. And oddly didn't see one enforcement officer in the last 600 miles.
Not like the last 100 miles on 395 north into Mamaoth Lakes, Ca-- one CHP only 10 to 15 minutes apart, in the middle of the day and middle of the week. Rumor has it the patrol heavily just waiting for one very loud Red Ford GT to by them too fast.

Thanks guys, I will pass the great comments on to my "specialty care shop".

It was dry for me until Eugene, then it started dumping torrents of water. Not too many cops seen but my VH1 kept giving me strong K band signals so I was paranoid. I did have some punks chasing me and buzzing my rear corners too. How come when I was 20 and had a little MGB, I did not buzz the nice cars on the road? Is it the new credo of the Rice burner wanna be's?

Hi 2112 - i wish we could've met up when you picked your GT up from Shadowman's. I watched it as each mod was done. It came out fantastic. I hope you can make the Rally in August.

Beeeeutiful
But you may want to look into some exhaust tips because if you show up at the ball park without the "ballpark Franks" it may look a little light - except if you are Jewish of course, because then you expect some to be missing.:biggrin

NICE! How bout a pic with the windows down, please? I'd love to see the SW relocate from that perspective.

Looks great, Awesome color.

Lookin' good - maybe you and the rest of the NW guys can show your GT at Griots on Sunday (May 22). Ed
