Looking to see if I might be a "good fit" with other owners as there are often social events etc. Why the problem with these innocuous questions?

The GT has probably one of the most diverse "supercar" demographic sets. Just by buying it, you're in. Takes a different breed to buy a 160k Ford :wink

I just want to commend everyone on how they handled this prickly post. Very smartly done.

I asked these questions because I was on the edge and only trying to get a sense of what kind of people own Ford GTs. My previous experience has been with Porsche and Ferrari owners. I have read quite a few "put downs" by the members of this forum on Ferrari owners, but your glib answers to my legitimate query says it all. The two or three GT owners I have spoken with have been very helpful and I thank you.

Take it easy on Rong fellas :lol

Rong, you have to understand, this is the kind of response you'll get on almost every forum (except Corvetteforum, where many will provide you with detailed W-2's :biggrin ). People just don't like giving out too much info on the net!
:cheers

You will find GT owners are the most down to earth group of supercar owners there are. They are car guys.

I would not judge based on the responses - no one is going to provide personal information over the internet.

Buy one if you are on the edge - there is no question it is a great car :cheers .

I think the Forum is something akin to a bar (a pub), populated by regulars who listen, share views, converse and ultimately like each other. New visitors are extremely welcome, but there's probably some unwritten code that you don't barge into any bar and ask 'so, how old are you, where did you go to school, what cars do you have....?'. It's an entirely natural reaction for those in the bar to say 'uh, who the f*ck are you?!'

A better approach might be - 'hi, my name is Bill, I don't have a GT at the moment, I live in New York and I'm really curious to know if there's a typical GT owner....' Do you see my point?

I reckon humility probably covers it. I came in here some while ago and gradually, over time, have been accepted (hope so!) - and now I could pretty much ask anyone here anything - and they of me. Equally if someone wants to have a go at me about being a Brit - they can, because I know I'm part of the gang and we all know if I was in a tight spot with my car, most here would do anything to help.

Do you see my point Rong? I'm not lecturing, just offering some advice.

Hope it helps.

Very astute answer Neilda. My feelings exactly. But I thought the Brit word was "bugger?"

Mr Rong,

1. You are wrong to assume Ferrari owners receive put downs because they are such (quite a few of us ARE Ferrari owners, in some cases multiple Ferrari owners).
2. You are further rong :lol in you assumption that the 'glib' answers to your ''legitimate'' :thumbsdow query were received because you state you are a Ferrari owner yourself.

Maybe these questions presented by you in such an elegant and charming style were 'Legitimate', would you be the gatekeeper here, or should I suppose 'the bouncer" ?

I reckon you are a second hand Ferrari owner ? Now that I feel IS a legitimate query :biggrin

cordially,

Stefan

PS: Get in line, take a breather & try again more cordially, :rofl and we'll probably forgive you ...
... or choose another 'bar' to hang out, if you prefer so

I like the description of Alpha males as it states: 'Outgoing, friendly, intelligent, (socially) powerful, confident, and fun social-group leaders, "have
their shit together".

As opposed to the opposite: 'Shy, anxious, low social status, maybe many friendships with women but few real relationships, a push-over, walked upon by others, "needy", "clingy", dependent, self-esteem problems, desperate, tries to move relationships too quickly, exciting, arrogant, psychotic scum'.

I didn't write that and like how the last description quickly descends into a rant!!

Alphas also urinate to mark their territory which is exactly what my GT is doing at the moment from it's genital transaxle. :lol
