In CA the person would be arrested too. How about in MI, or TX?

THIS IS PURE YOU-KNOW-WHAT. The HOME OWNER "crossed the line"???? PUHLEEEEEEZE. They guy was in OBVIOUS FEAR for his life AND the lives of his family.

Regardless, WHERE in the 2nd Amendment does it limit/dictate/spell out WHAT KIND OF GUN anyone can have? Or how many? Or whether it/they hafta be semi-auto, fully auto, or single shot?

I'm gunna shuddup before I really go off the deep end here. This kinda :bs:bs:bs just infuriates me.

I bet there is another side to this story.

"I tell them, you know, ‘Can you please leave?’ Grier said"
I bet it went more like this: 'Get the **** out of driveway before I kill all you mother****ers!"

Either way, you would have gone to jail in just about any state for this behavior. Sitting inside the door with the AK (and I like an AK for home defense) and waiting the assailants to approach the door would have been both legally more defendable and tactically more advisable. However, in the heat of the moment, who knows? I see a New York gun tax in the making here. They can't "take" them aways but they can make 'em unaffordable for JoeQ.

You should be allowed to defend yourself in your own home with whatever you choose. However, with that being said, you need to think seriously about what weapon you will use when that day comes. While the AK is an ultra reliable weapon, personally I would go with an M4 using FRANGIBLE ammo so as not to punch through walls and hit other people. My choice for an M4 is basically because that is what I have used for years so my muscle memory would be good under a second of high stress. There is also a huge aftermarket for them, they can be configured in any style you prefer, they are accurate, and they are highly dependable if built properly, kept clean and run with quality ammo.

I don't think the AK47 was the reason he was arrested. He could have used a 22LR and he still would have been arrested. I think most reasonable people would be fearful of losing their life it this situation, but discharging a firearm outside of ones home is a problem in most states, unless you are being physically assaulted. The law wants you to retreat inside your home, wait for the police and only shoot if forcibly entry has occurred or shot at.

You know the government is the solution to all of our problems. :(

I enjoyed one of the comments below the story.

"I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy. When seconds count, the police will be there in minutes."

How exactly do they pinpoint a discharge?

By triangulating the sound with microphones and computers.

Clinton: I know you can read, and I know we've been over this before. Do me a favor and be remotely respectful of the fact we ask members to not bitch about politics on this automotive site.
