I went in to Don Kott Ford in Carson today, talked to them about trading in my Viper GTS. Nice enough people, but they make me feel uneasy when they shoot from the hip and make up information.

At one point, I asked the sales manager why the car had no window sticker on it. He says "Oh, we don't put stickers on 'em", and shakes his head resolutely. I tell him stickers come on it from the factory, and then he goes into a lengthy and convoluted tale of how it is that their dealership doesn't put window stickers on the FGT, all the while waving his hands around, as if the hand motion makes the story more palatable. I stopped listening, because he sounded so full of sh*t.

Next thing I asked him was if they had a tungsten one coming for 2006, he said he didn't know if tungsten was going to be available. Must have wanted to sell the red one, I guess.

Anyway, people that shoot from the hip and ad lib responses even when they don't know, or blab to cover up something, well, they "chap my hide"! I don't like being lied to by some salesperson, it dishonors the customer. Wouldn't want to go back there, not when there are so many other dealers around with them on the showroom floor. (boy, I'm pissy today, huh? :-D )

...another dealer thinking he will make retirement on his GT allocation. :thumbsdow

Not a dealer hiding the factory tag but I just had a interesting story yesterday...

I just called on 1 down @ Berge Ford in Mesa...they been sitting on a white one for 5 months now and a blue 1 for almost a year. Guy quoted me 160,000 over the phone (all "options" car). Told him great, confirm it w/ the manager and I'm on my way down right now...called back with "190,000 takes it." I couldn't help but laugh @ him.

Then he said "whats a 1/4 (25,000) between friends?" I told him it's the mustang GT convertible he would be throwing into the deal :lol ...don't think he liked that.

Anyways, glad they were so high. It's an 05 after all.

The guys at Pacific Ford in Long Beach were cool. Let me know if you want to talk to them, I bought mine there. They'll probably get some more.

And they, the dealers, wonder why so many of us look at them with the same
disgust as those scum sucking bottom dwellers lawyers! No offense if there are any Lawyers on here, just a figure of speech.

My dealer quoted sticker, then said the GM wouldn't go for it so could he inflate the price by $1,500 and my trade by $1,500. I oked that. He pumped the price of the car an additional $1,100 over the $1,500 I agreed to. My insurance agent found the difference. When I called the dealer he had the balls to tell me that is what I agreed to.

I have not returned my dealer survey. I heard that was worse than a bad survey. They called last week telling me that they had another one in the showroom. Could I tell one of my friends that it is available? Sure I will. Anyone that wants to deal with this dealer pm me. :ack

The window sticker being displayed on a new vehicle is law. With that being said, my sticker came from the factory in the car and not attached to the window. When I was at Wixom they kept them in a file drawer somewhere after the water test and before final inspection. The dealer should have it where it can be seen. But it doesn't come on the car. Must be so owner can keep the sticker nice! Just for info! :cheers

The window sticker is shipped with the car in the net behind the drivers seat. The dealer is supposed to put it on when the car arrives. It is a federal law that the car is displayed the the sticker on it if it is for sale.

Some dealers emulate the cockroaches that are suposed to survive a nuclear holicost as they cling to the the get rich quick bs of car prices (while all the while sucking up the floor plan nut). You may notice that the
(in)famous Bentley of Long Island is attempting to set a new Ebay record for most times listing and relisting the same 2005 red car. Then, of course there is the 2005 red in Ft Myers that was still showroom incarcerated and 300,000 ("absolutely firm !!" in April.

A bad survey is way way worse than one not turned in (many people don't turn in a survey anyway even if they are happy). In fact, if you still have your survey, it's as good as cash. Schedule a meeting with the general manager to "review" the survey. He'll want you to give him the survey, but don't let him have it until they not only agree to your terms but actually deliver on it (maybe a refund of the additional mark-up or some other suitable compensation).

I'm ready for a deal from my dealer. I paid over sticker a year ago but it was still 50K less than the going rate at the time. Galpin was good to me but I think because they are sobig They either forget or move on... Wasn't too happy with my tech last time around. He should've had the car washed and ready. Had it two days longer then he told me and then we he gave me an 11am pickup.. I show up and waited for 3 hrs. for it to be finished :thumbsdow
