Guys,

Just trying to work out the relative merits of the two main types of big power tuning for a GT.

Option1) - Whipple, Headers, Exhaust, Throttle Bodies etc.

Option 2) - Twin Turbo wih Exhaust.

What's the ball park cost of each option??

Thanks!

A Heffner twin turbo is ~$35k turnkey. Add another ~2k for exhaust.

I think Hennessey charges ~$35k also for their normal TT kit and ~$30k for the kit using the stock supercharger still in place.

There are a few other options but they are non-sponsors.

A whipple is around 9000. Stainless works headers around 3000 with cats. Exhaust 2000. TB - 650. Expect around ~3000 for SCT tuner, installation and tune.

So around $18k turnkey

Stock = 1 set of Underwear as baseline

Whipple = ~$12k+ and two set's of Underwear for spirited driving

Twin Turbo ~ $30k and three set's of Underwear for in your face driving

You have to include the cost of traffic tickets and increased insurance premium, unless you always obey the laws of man and nature.

The way I see it, its easier to run from the cops if you have more power. :rofl

Maybe in TX. Where I live in CA the traffic is so bad you wouldn't get too far in a car, but with a motorcycle you would have a chance. This is not an issure for me, since I am with Bony and always obey the laws of man and nature.

Kumar, I'd like to see you outrun their Radios, even in Texas. Tomy

Ya beat me to it, Tomy! :rofl

Kumar's costs are about right. The Whipple, ehxaust, throttle body and tune will give you about 730 rw hp on 93 octane and 770 rear wheel hp on race gas. For another $10k you can have our twin turbo system with the factory blower and get 850 rw hp on pump gas and 950 rw hp on race gas.

What is your intended USE for the car? "Texas Mile" for instance, or street driving? Or a combo of similiar purposes? Maybe that should be factored in B4 making a decision one way or the other regardless of just the costs involved? :shrug :cheers

Im going to show my age here but about 5 years ago when the street racing scene here was big, a couple of us have outrun/outsmarted radios and even a police helicopter on one occasion in a Callaway Corvette. My post was mainly in jest anyway.

Of course I obey all traffic laws now that Im older and more mature. In all seriousness, running from the law is not worth it AT ALL. :cheers

I think that's a little high.

$9k for the whipple (includes a tune).
No other options are necessary, although you will eventually get them.
$2-3k for install although I think you could manage it yourself. No machining is required, just bolt on stuff.
----------
$11-12k for the whipple seems more realistic.

EP alway shows his age. If you can get away, I say run like hell. If you can't call Delta Bail Bonds. :biggrin

ya i just included the other stuff because he had it in his list. i bet headers, exhaust, and TB are good for a total of maybe 20rwhp

Fubar ... you offerin 50 state service yet? :lol

That's exactly what I paid for a professional install.
