Hey Guys,
I've been contemplating making a combo kit of existing CF center console and a CF sub box. If we can generate enough interest we'll go ahead and do it!!
Let me know and we could probably get it ready after the holidays. We already have the hard part done!! The speaker box is a fairly quick build.

A sub box in CF!? SCHWEEEEEET!!!!

Oh yeah...count me in for the sub box. I already have your console.

I don't follow. I thought by your post you meant a carbon cover for the housing around the shifter and climate control knobs as well as a carbon cover on the existing sub between the seats. But your picture just shows a carbon storage box and no console cover.

Can you clarify please and give us an idea of the cost?

I originally sold the vertical CF center console to guys who were relocating the Mac sub woofer. The cost is less than the Ford Factory unit. Many of the guys bought our CF console used the relocation sub speaker boxes from Shadowman. Ash specially made them. I have been approached by numerous GT owners who have asked for a Carbon Fiber Sub box to match the Vertical console.
This post is for an official show of hands for guys that want to do the Mac relocate and get both pieces from one source in CF. I can PM you the cost of the CF vertical center console because that's been available for a while. The Sub woofer box cost would be determined after we get some feed back on how many vs molding costs etc..

A word of caution on a carbon sub enclosure. The Mac sub is a bass reflex design with a port through the center for the driver. A very unique design. The enclosure should be acoustically opaque and it's materials, construction, internal volume and dimensions greatly influence its performance. A 100% carbon fiber enclosure would be too acoustically active in my opinion and not ideal. A carbon veneer over a MDF, or concrete would sound better much better than 100% CF.

Fiber fill material in the CF enclosure will do the trick. You must hang out with Analog designer !!! :biggrin

I'm in. Thanks Stormcat. I'll have to get Kip's carbon console cover to go with them.

Never met the man, I missed him at the Rally II, but have emailed, PM and spoken with him on the phone. Good luck with the fiber fill for the low frequencies.

Do you ever wonder why you can hear people talk through wall that have insulation?

I think that's the idea of a speaker is to hear it? Also since sub low frequencies are non directional and it's behind the seat who cares . This car isn't a Lexus with a Mark Levinson equivilant sound system so I guess well just have to live with it. And again , I thank you for your concerns..

I'd be interested in obtaining the costs of the vertical console and proposed speaker housing too. Please PM me or send to [email protected].

Thanks

Quarter inch aluminum plate worked great. See pics in my gallery. :biggrin

I have Kip's enclosure, but I have never turned on the radio. Well, actually I think the day I got my car new I turned it on to see if it worked for about 10 seconds, then I turned it off. Who in the hell turns on the radio in these cars???

I believe Kip's enclosure replaces the stock one. The real speaker enclosure is still intact behind the CF.

Count me in for both the CF vertical console and the CF speaker housing. Please PM me with costs and mailing address for payment.

Brian, are you going to use the "behind the seat" approach, or have you figured out a new location? Oh, by the way, STILL WAITING ON BOTTLE HOLDERS!

I would like the set

I have watched previous discussions relocating giant sub speaker. Is this as simple as it sounds? If so, please count me in.

I looked at some alternate locations but behind the seat is the best option.. Bottle holders coming soon......:biggrin
