Coil pack covers corrosion

I just ordered a replacement set of coil pack covers as mine had become pretty corroded and nasty looking after 3 years. It seems like the clear coat comes off then the aluminum oxidizes. Rather than getting a new set every couple years, is there a better more permanent alternative?

I think I'll have the old ones bead blasted and powder coated clear, any other ideas?

Mine are starting to do the same.
I was planning to get them powder coated in clear.
Much more durable & cost effective.
I live her in Ontario the climate is brutal on wheels, refinishers tend to use a clear powder coat over reclearing for the durability.
I don't think on the covers you would be able to tell the difference between the two.
When I get mine done I'll send you a picture if you want

I imagine you guys that are seeing this are in cold climates and the salt in the air and used on the roads is causing his. Out of 150+ Ford GTs we have had, I have only seen this about 5 or 6 times. Every car was from eithr up north or very close to the sea.

Replace them with the New Project 321 coil covers coming soon !!! :wink

At least the stock ones are cheap and readily available from me if anyone wants spares.

Jake hope's so !!! :biggrin

Chrome them.

I like the chrome idea. I live in Houston and mine are in bad shape. Also aluminum pieces like throttle body and intake have a white buildup on them ?? Car has been here in HOuston for 3 1/2 years....

I have a set of the Ford Racing chrome covers - which look pretty cool.

I have seen many GTs with more or less corrosion on these covers, mine included. In fact, I ordered a new set of covers from Ford, and when they came (NIB) they were badly corroded. It took two tries to get a set that was acceptable. This problem is well known in older Japanese motorcycles that had their crankcases and covers laquered. Eventually, the alloy underneath corrodes and all that can be done is to strip the clear and recoat.
