I agree Mark i would say 90% of the "Sales People" in new car dealers ships dont qualify as bozos they are too good for that. I have bought about 8 new cars over the years. Had only 2 pleasant experiences. My GMC work van and my BMW. The BMW guy did not know much but at least he was friendly and easy to deal with i said i want to pay this amount$$$$ for a 0 down lease with these terms and for a car i wanted to order. Did my own lease research in advance 10 min later had a deal speced the car and went home to wait 2 months for the car to be built. Was a pleasant experience. MY GMC i bought online and got preaproved for financing in advance all i had to do was show up sign some stuff and leave with the car. I tend to shop and buy cars throught the Internet people in Dealerships much less headache and no hours spend sittin with the "bozo" while he waists ur time. If you want to order a GT i might suggest emailing some dealers that have sold cars on ebay and talkin to the Internet sales managers to see if they can still spec a car for you. I have my own bozo story when i was buyin a Toyota Highlander it was very popular and in my area only 1 local Toyota dealer. So after doin my research i offered the guy $900 over invoice which was very generous on a regular car. After jerking me around for 2 hrs in the cubicle he comes back and says if you are not willing to pay MSRP you just dont want to be driving a Highlander. I walked out got online and bought the same car in NJ from the Internet Sales manager for $300 over invoice. Then i came back to the local dealer and the guy tells me yeah i knew you would be back to buy cause these cars are rare. lol I said naahhhhaaaa i am just goin to parts for some touchup paint that i will need down the road for my NEW Higlander hehe.
Sorry for the rant but i hate 90% of car sales people and i agree i own a sales centered buisness where its my job to know my inventory inside and out and i would not let these guys sweeep my floor.

Have a little respect for the sales guys who sell the car and know every thing their is to know about it. Do you know how many times Bozo's and tire kicker's must walk in and ask a million stupid questions just to hear themselves talk about this car while the sales guy might be missing out on a contractor who wants to buy 2 or 3 trucks for his business? Most Ford stores won't even see one of these cars and the big stores that might see a few are getting a few on an allocation because they are a big volume store so needless to say the sales guys are concentrating on what they've been selling for years, not the miniscule chance of selling a GT. And I'm sure any sales guy with Ford experience would pick up on the details of this car in a half a day of study. Hell the block stems from a Lightning pick-up truck! Even worse are the bottom feeders who are looking for a "big discount". Show a little courtesy and respect to the dealer you buy the car from, you WILL need them down the road. P.S. Next time you're waiting in the Doctor's office for three hours and he sees you for three minutes and tells you to get some rest and drink lots of fluids, tell him what a Bozo he is too!!! :thumbsdow

I agree!

I drive up in a 70,000.00 plus car to look at the GT and they treat me like I am a teenager buying a Mustang. BTW I'm 50. I can go drive all day a Carrera and even a Gallardo, set in a Saleen 7. But you can't even get near a GT, yet many a sales manager has took one out for a spin and broke it in real good for you I bet. That's why I am so nuts about getting one with less than 5 miles. Not only is this car out of place for ford but It's out of class for the sales people.

Porsche wanted to eliminated dealers but...

A few years ago Porsche tried to think about eliminating dealers, after all they only sell Porsches in a few prime markets, why do the need independent dealers. They could have five showrooms, say, Beverly Hills, Aspen, Boca Rato, Dallas, NYC,and have authorized service facilities. But the dealers who had spent millions on showrooms threatened to sue and got a billion promised in funds to fight the plan so Porsche demurred. But I agree, the thought of having to sit down with an ignorant salesperson who knows nothing about the Ford GT is off putting. Ford could have sold them all on the internet, but on the other hand Ford sales have been so down lately that the dealers needed something to buoy their bottom line and the profit on a GT helps. Plus the car's being in the showrooms attracted people like a magnet, which is one reason the Ford GT was approved in the first place. It hardly pays to have a specialist in high performance educated to sell the car when the only other hipo car they will have to sell is the Shelby Mustang in a few months, like training a gourmet cook when you mosty move burgers.

I bought mine form the internet sales department of a local dealer and they were professional, friendly, responsive and courteous.

Late coming to this thread, but I am a little surprised about comments about the sales people.

We all have had bad experiences with them. Even when you know what you want, it can be a hours long ordeal.

I just don't think the sales people are that important in the GT world. I can't imagine someone walking into a dealership not knowing what they wanted and the "non-bozo" informed sales person selling them a GT that they didn't know they were going to buy. The sales people come in when you are unsure which model of Nissan you want, or you are comparing the Yukon and the Tahoe.

I would guess that the vast majority of people who ended up with a GT already knew they were going to buy GT and knew all they needed to know about the car. I had no sales person so to speak - I called and made an offer. Done deal. There was no selling that had to take place. So was my guy a bozo? No. When I actually talked to him, he was well informed about the GT, and very nice (well, I guess you would expect that, but nevertheless seemed nice past the expectation).

I think the Ford people were wise in not letting everyone that came to look at the GTs sit in them, etc. I had heard for mine that the GM was the ONLY person allowed to move it - the sales guys did not even have a key. After all, you don't want some kid sitting in the car dripping ice cream on it or anything like that. The cars are expensive and limited production and the dealer may have 1 or 2. If a looker did anything to it, you have a potential ruined sale for the real customer. In addition, who would want a GT that 20 people have taken for a test drive? You know all 20 basically did at least some level of abuse. Even when you buy a regular car, most of us want one off the back lot still in the wraps that no one has screwed with or been in - a no mile car. You just can't do that with the GT - they show you all they have.

The other factor would be that your typical Ford dealer has many customers coming and going, and you know that almost all are not there for the GT (except maybe to look).

As Neilda indicated, you can get bad service everywhere. It's not that the car sales people are bozos - there is a whole community of bozos worldwide and some car people just happen to be a member of it. The bozo community is active at resturants, real estate, teaching, - on my God, they are everywhere :eek .

So, even with the "fine service" from Jaguar, while my XJR was being brought up from an oil change, I was looking at the new XK8 (owned an XK8 and a number of other Jaguars in the past). A salesman walked up to me and asked me what I thought. I said I wasn't that crazy about the way the rear window was on the coupe. Didn't have much chance to say anything else - he walked away. I think he was the President of the WOOB (World Organization of Bozos).
