boostapump

Been looking into the Kenne Bell BAP, seems to be very similar to the boostaspark in theory and design. I was wondering if you only used the 40 amp boostapump, could it also power the ignition or not enough power?

I changed my BAP to power the spark instead but I've never heard of anyone trying to use one device to run both systems at the same time.

Incidentally, I found that the Ford system did not respond well to the additional spark.

Shadowman just competed the install/integration of the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump for my GT in time for the GT Speed Day this coming weekend at Mojave.

Question: Won't using these devices (any brand) shorten the life of the pumps?

Nice thumb pics, Bill.

Not sure but using less fuel will shorten the life of the engine.

...using less fuel will shorten the life of the engine.

'Very likely! :lol

Is the theory behind using higher voltages anything like running an air compressor? Running a compressor at 110volts seems a lot harder on the compressor than running it at 220 volts.

In a way yes, the higher the voltage the lower the amp draw. The fuel pumps are DC motors, so the varation of voltage to a dc motor will change its speed. The boostapump will increase the speed of the dc motor that drives the pump. This intern will allow the pump to flow more fuel. The same math still applies in that when you ask for more flow and pressure your current demand will increase.

Motor life will be similar if the current load on the motor stays the same.

Thanks!

This looks like another item to include on my Whipple installation parts check list.

The Boost-A-Pump only works when you need it so most of the time the pump is on the stock voltage. It should last as long as a non-boosted pump.
