Beware: Totaled GT back on road

To be fair to the seller, it is possible that the car was stolen and the thieves slammed the rear wheel into a curb. If the car wasn't recovered within 30 days, the insurance company would have paid off and owned the car once it was recovered.

What I'm not sure of is...would the insurance company have to put a salvage title on it under those circumstances?
They're required to under certain state laws.

just got another reply to my emails to the seller

"I also have another 06 tungsten silver availible next week on ebay 1285 miles. The red one has long tube headers, 15 pound boost pulley, passport radar detector with front and rear sensors. I also have a blue 06 with white stripes 1000 miles coming in 2 weeks, and a black with silver stripes 785 miles. Plus 2 more dont know the colors yet. Hope the pictures worked for you. Thanks Andy "

goody,,.... goody,,... a gt puppy mill...:thumbsdow :bs :thumbsdow

Gents, I wish to clarify why I commented about someone of substance making a representation,... only one reason, there is recourse against assets. You can only attack someone that has assets,... therefore one may ass-ume that a representation for a large organization should have some creditbilty.

As I have always written, anybody should get a reliable PPI when contemplating a significant purchase...

Is it just me that thinks this dammage doesn't look too bad...
Should that really be a salvage title car??

You'd have to call nationwide with the reference number I posted to see why it was salvage. If your GT was stolen, washed, waxed, and returned to you after the 30 day period that insurance has to pay for it, it would be a salvage title in Florida, even if it was babied like their own with $0 damage.

I could be wrong, but that's my understanding of how Florida deals with that stuff.

Is it just me, or do those half-shaft bolts look a little out of whack?

Sorry.

Couldn't resist.

This picture is a little too tidy for me. This could be a pic of the car after body/paint work was finished. I would like to see the picture of uncorrected damage...at the crash site, recovery site or whatever, showing the damage before anything was removed.

Ditto in New York State............but, be aware that washing titles is also possible. Running a salvage title from state to state, until it is obscured into a clean title (in states that do not recognize the total factor) will be sold to a unsuspecting buyer as a clean car....car fax will still show the accident, but hard to determine the $ amount, therefore...when it's to good to be true..it usually is. I suspect the reason the car was totalled is because of the frame damage in this type car. Insurance companies shy away from getting married to an insured with damages on a car that might come back to haunt them....easier to total the car, and close the file. You guys in Fl., are you aware that a salvaged titled car cannot ever be registered in that state? Eventually, all states will change to that law.

All one needs to do is contact the insurance company, and ask them for a copy of the damage report, ( as long as you have the file#) as an interested party, in the process of possibly purchasing the car. Better yet, find out who owned it, they have a copy (by law) and you could see exactly what were the damages.

Probably the reason for salvage title is cracked frame! Insurance company won't want the liability after the frame is cracked so by declaring it Totaled they wash their hands to it.

My son's car was stolen and the wheels, tires, and interior were stripped. The thieves didn't touch the drivetrain or do any body damage. The insurance company totaled the car. We bought it back and it had a salvage title. He replaced the interior and reinsured it with the same carrier as before. All they required was for him to send them the receipts for all the items that he had to replace.

Car didn't sell. Bid went to $131000. I think that's plenty for a salvage title car. Means our are worth that much more!

I had to LOL when I saw the car sitting in the sand with no support, looks like they draged it across the sand on the belly pan, Any one notice??? ect.....LOL!!!! Can I sell swamp land on EBAY? Do peaple really buy 180k sports cars on ebay?

The title washing game is coming to an end.... (I hope and pray)... the owner of TITLES UNLIMITED from Alabama spent a year here in sunny kal-fool-nia courtesy of Arnold and Bony. He enjoyed the best kal-fool-nia had to offer, Chino Men's Colony and polished his farm labor skills...

Bottom line, get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) completed by a true expert.

I found my 2006 Black GT on Ebay also.:thumbsup

This is the guy who just pulled the GT parts off e-bay because he said he was going to rebuild the car.

It's gonna be scary to buy a used one in the future because of guys like this.:thumbsdow

I bought my GT from Ebay, but did checks on the Ford dealership first, and it was untitled. Buying a used car from a small company/private trader unseen is madness IMO

spend a few extra dollars and buy your next girl from a reputable dealer who is known by people on this Forum. Like Marv or Bob ... they wouldn't commit suicide just to make a quick buck... also happen to be the most honest car sales guys I have ever had the opportunity to talk to. :thumbsup
