Good Sam (we think alike)........... I did the same thing earlier ........... I asked how much one wheel and tire costs because ................
They said that:
"The Car was involved in minor accident with about 8,000. in damages all damages were sustained to right rear wheel and no body damage at all.":bs

They won't respond ..........:willy

Umm guys, I have some interesting news. I looked up the information in an insurance company database, and the car belongs to

Nation Wide Insurance Company
1001 Heath Row Park Ln 2017
Lake Mary FL
32746-7600

They have an attached Reference Number 07135155627193, and the title is listed as clear.

I really don't follow you? "listed as clear" means it was not salvage doesn't it?

I think clear would mean there is no note or lein against it.

Nope, you can have a clear title on a totaled vehicle.

Clear title- A title that is free of liens and legal questions as to ownership of the property. A requirement for the sale of real estate. also called just title or good title or free and clear.

Really sounds like it was totaled or stolen, then purchased by the insurance company.

interesting thread, nobody has commented on how many deals the seller has accomplished...

U be right !

I didn't even pay attention to that.

The seller has accomplished 0 deals.

3 feedback received from sellers only!

Very astute observation by our most humble and vigilant MODERATOR ....... and pockets and I really expect a response from performanceandy. :thumbsup

If I was buying, I would rather buy from a substantial company rather than an individual... especially to insure proper representation. I heard that a salvaged car might be difficult to insure?? Anybody know for a fact?

Also, It was my understanding that there is no longer a warranty.

You can find insurance on a salvage title, however if you make a claim, it's going to be tough to prove that the damage wasn't there when the car was first insured. Often times buyers and insurance companies walk away unhappy when this comes up, and it nearly always goes to court.

Just recently, a guy purchased a STi with a salvage title and frame damage for almost nothing. He repaired the visible areas, and left everything else (frame damage). About a month later he "hydroplaned" into a guardrail on the interstate, leaned back in his seat (to avoid back damage) and walked away unharmed. The car had a bent frame and was totaled. Upon review of two cars he totaled before, the company noticed a coincidence and when they threatened court, he admitted it was planned, and settled outside of court. Jerks like this cause insurance companies to question their customers.

Also, It was my understanding that there is no longer a warranty.
Depends on the state. I believe in Florida that the company still has to honor the emissions warranty, but nothing else.

i just got this return mail from the body shop that did the work and is selling it on ebay.
i mailed him again and asked for detailed pictures of the damage and frame area in question !!!

"The insurance companies estimate was higher than 8000, that's just what it cost me to fix it, i am a high performance repair shop. The frame had a crack in the aluminum and i paid $750 for the best in the country to tig weld it. Any questions call me at 936-414-2295 andy"

Will an alum. frame upon being hit crack before it is bent and distorted? (rhetorical)

An aluminum frame could crack or break with very little distortion. I own a metal fabrication business and have been working with metal all my life (hence the name metalman). It would depend on the alloy, temper and hardness of the aluminum. GT frame components are manufactured to be very strong and rigid, they might flex quite a bit and then crack, but not actually bend much.

just got another reply to my emails to the seller

"I also have another 06 tungsten silver availible next week on ebay 1285 miles. The red one has long tube headers, 15 pound boost pulley, passport radar detector with front and rear sensors. I also have a blue 06 with white stripes 1000 miles coming in 2 weeks, and a black with silver stripes 785 miles. Plus 2 more dont know the colors yet. Hope the pictures worked for you. Thanks Andy "

I'm sorry but a salvage car really isn't good for much but a track car...and at $120K your only about 25 or 30 from a good used one...

WHY would you pay 120 for a salvage title car?

Matt

All interesting...Pics of that poor red FGT playing in the sandbox is pretty graphic and disturbing...I think I will now go get drunk and beat my dog :cheers :lol

Also, It was my understanding that there is no longer a warranty.

Carfax says the warranty is void. That reduces the value quite a bit in my book.

Damn, this guy's gonna sell more GT's than most dealers. He must have a contract with several insurance companies to buy their salvage. We should start tracking the vin's when he posts them on e-bay. I'm surprised there are so many wrecks available at one time, especially in my back yard.

The seller mentions an accident. That should be a heads up to research it more for any prospective buyer. This is buyer beware but the seller DOES say it was in an accident.

In either case, thank you for the heads up as I have warned anyone I know looking for a GT to stay away form this one. Also the seller has no real feedback...who the heck spends 120K+ on a no feedback auction?????

To be fair to the seller, it is possible that the car was stolen and the thieves slammed the rear wheel into a curb. If the car wasn't recovered within 30 days, the insurance company would have paid off and owned the car once it was recovered.

What I'm not sure of is...would the insurance company have to put a salvage title on it under those circumstances?
